So after doing this it worked great for a day and then I noticed that some of my LED's were out or dim on my passenger side. I thought it was my bad luck and thought I would need a new taillight. So I plugged the actuator cable back in and the taillight issue went away. I guess I won't be unplugging it.

I noticed slight increase in MPG but only on long drives, steady speed. Why? Because driving around town it sounds so good I probably keep my foot into it more.

Has anyone attempted to use either a fuel cut-off valve, or some other type of ball valve in line just before the flapper instead of a ball bearing, etc.?

If something like this works then all you'd need to do is flip it on/off whenever you'd like without dealing with hose pinchers or wiring harnesses, etc.

It sounds like "lug lug lug lug lug vroom VRoooM VROOOOM gurgle gurgle snap-crackle-pop"

If that isn't convincing enough, I don't know what is...

I'm thinking about trying this on my E93. I hope there aren't any side effects for me! I wonder if the unplug method is worse or better than the hose clamp methods?

unplugged it and barely noticed a difference, maybe it's just me, I came from a 2006 Subaru Legacy GT that had no muffler at all, straight piped and loud as all hell.

We'll see tomorrow as a I drive the car.

Yea I actually called up the local dealer and asked about this.

The guy said no negatives to doing it. Doesn't void any warranty.
