Sealant for wheels?
Hey guys so I was looking into getting a nice sealant for my wheels, that will keep them protected for a few months.
Should I just grab some normal sealant that is used for paint like blackfire wet diamond sealant or grab some poorboys wheel sealant?

BFWD will work just as well as PB wheel sealant. The whole PB wheel sealant thing is a gimmick anyways. Its the same type of sealant. I STRONGLY suggest going the Opti-Coat route though. Your clear coat will fail on your wheels and when it does it ends up looking like this. Nothing will get it out and its stuck forever. It happened to me and im a detail addict even though I clean my wheels every week or 2 but I only put a 100 miles every 2 weeks on my car. Get Opti-Coat that way you never have to worry about this happening. Also, only use soap and water on your wheels.
This only happened on that side of 3 spokes and those spokes look permanently dirt after the clear coat failed. It extremely common on BMW's.

here are a couple.
Auto Finesse Mint Rims now if you want something to ease up the cleaning and protect your wheels you may want to try the Opti Coat - I have them on my wheels for 2 years and they still look great. |

Can you use regular car wax, like meguairs carnuba wax for wheels? I use the mothers wheel cleaner and it comes out great, but the next day there is shit all over them again...

you can use a car wax but to be frank the problem is the wax can't stand up to the heat around the wheels and brakes.
you may want to use something like the ones above. |

Poorboy's wheel sealant claims to have a melting point of 400 degrees or higher. I would be interested to know the melting point of BFWD, Menz sealant etc. That would be the primary factor that would make me buy a separate sealant just for wheels. Otherwise its just marketing.

Thanks for every ones great replies! Also thanks for detailers domain ive both some great stuff and advice from you guys.
Im not sure how hot the rims get, but im sure its not 400 degrees.. I def don't want to use wax as I want something that will last longer on the rims like a sealant.

Anymore input on poorboys wheel sealant vs something like jetseal or blackfire wet diamond? Gonna be making a nice purchase tomorrow with all the goodies I need for the summer.

Well, BFWD is good stuff. Poorboy's is average. You have to clay your wheels then wipe down with IPA if you want your sealant to actually last. Opti-coat and Swissvax Autobahn are much better choices.
