Invoice Price demystify

When he gives me the selling price, it is NOT 2700 off list. I haven't put my finger on it, but there are fees that don't show up on edmunds, that the dealer supposedly pays. So I preferred in the end to just talk selling price, and do my own subtraction based on edmunds and bmwusa.com's list price. The other thing that annoyed me was when getting a sell price, again I almost seemingly got $3000+ under list, until the salesman forgot that space gray was a metallic color and he forgot the sport pkg. Really tricky, but in the end it'll be worth it....
From what I gather, there are 2 different invoice price. I learned that after I ordered.

1. True invoice - the price on e90post.com, edmunds.com, carpoint.com, etc.
2. Dealer invoice - the True Invoice plus MACO, training fee.

MACO is Market Co-Op advertising fee. Here at Northern California is $400 for 3 series.

Training Fee is $180.

When dealer shows you the Invoice, it add the Training fee to the base price of the car. In addition, toward the end of the price sheet they add MACO fee of $400.

Hope that helps,

Juuni,

Could you tell us what invoice price you got? Ture Invoice or Dealer Invoice?

Thanks,

I've settled for $42,310 on a 335i e90 sedan,Titanium Silver, Black leatherette, sport pkg, 6spd, nav, heated seats, and sirius. It should arrive a week before Christmas. Can't wait! First Bimmer and I know I'm going to be in love for many years.

Oh....and Hello! First post I think.

Got my 335i Sedan, jet black, terra int, auto steptronic, premium, sports, cold weather, idrive nav, paddle shifters, comfort access. For $46,120, supposedly $1000 above invoice including any MACO and Training fees. Free BMW mats, although no free keychains and thankyou flowers (my previous BMW purchase experience had it).

I say start negotiating with prices like from cars.com or edmunds.com, they might say their invoice includes MACO fees.

Thanks,
Not sure how you define true invoice vs dealer invoice?

I'm talking invoice as per this topic on bimmerfest: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=158308

This matched exactly what the dealer used as well when i started talking about $X over invoice, so I'm guessing this is dealer invoice.

What's true invoice?

Theirs invoice.. which is what you see and then their is net. A net deal means invoice minus reserve. Reserve money is more or less the money that the dealer will get back from BMW from selling you a car. I do not sell BMW but I would get a loaded 3 has about $900 to $1500 in reserve money. This is how dealers blow out cars and sell them for below invoice usually break even on those particular cars. Cars such as this are dealer demos (new titled cars with miles on them).. old inventory (undesired cars that sit on the lot for a while), ad cars (this is a great way to buy a car), year end models etc.

The best way to get a deal on a car is know their ad in the paper as well as they do and be prepared. Know what stock number(s) the ad pertains to and say you want that car. Dealers will do anything to take you off the "ad car" becuase the as is a net deal and sometimes for big dealers it is a blow (they lose money) just to advertise their "low price". Most ads use matching cash/trade so be prepared to have money to put down. Some also have certain incentives in their as well.. manufacters rebates are always in their and sometimes things like "college grad rebate". For nissan if you graduated college within 2 years your eligable for that.. any kind of incentive like that will be thrown into the ad so know how to handle it. Also a lot say you "must" finance with the dealer... know their buy rate.. you can actually get the buy rate sheets right off the net.. so find out what banks they use.

I kind of went off on a tangent their.. I hope I was helpful. :rocks:

Cool Diplomatic Pricing

Hi, This is my first post and my first BMW. I live in the Denver area and I just ordered a:

328i
jet black
auto
heated seats
power seats
sports package

I really wanted the 335, but we're on a budget (read: my wife said no). I work for the Canadian Government, so I was able to get diplomatic pricing. We saved over $2100USD off the US MSRP and about $10,000CAN off the Canadian MSRP! Either way, I think we did OK. If anyone has questions about diplomatic pricing, (I think I read some somewhere, but I can't find them.), I'll try and help out. Now comes the crappy part, waiting 75-90 days! I'd just like to thank everyone for the info provided on this site. The pricing info really helped to get a great deal (we were able to start from the diplomatic invoice price and work up from there). We shopped around and were comfortable paying the price we did. We'd researched for over a year and one thing I learned was that the dealers don't deal much as the cars practically sell themselves (I know what my next job will be). Thanks again.

Just grabbed a car that was already in transit.

335i
Sparkling Graphite, black leather, aluminum trim
Sport Pack
Premium Pack
Nav
Sirius
Comfort access
Auto w/ paddle shifters

$48490 MSRP
$46375 Sale price ($2115 off MSRP)
36 months/10k a year
Paying up front costs only, no capital reduction.
$598 plus tax/month.

Just got out of my 2005 ZCP M3 using Swap-a-lease.com Needed 4 doors and an auto so I can get more use out of the car. Driving 7500 a year while paying for 10k a year ticked me off, especially with a $850 payment.

MSRP on mine was $36,115. I paid $34,543. So I got a discount of $1,592. Plus, at the end I asked him to throw in Chrome Tips (since I didn't get the Sport Pkg.) and he came back in 5 minutes and told me I could have them if I bought it then and put them on myself. I smiled and agreed. Also, when he showed us the sheet he had wheel locks already on the car and I said I didn't want them. He told me it was more expensive to take them off, and decided to give those free too!! Total savings = $1,592 + $68 + $129 = $1,789!!!
