2006 Paris Auto Show
Has anyone seen a press release or other information as to what vehicles BMW will be showing at the Paris Auto Show that begins September 29th for the general public? I believe the press preview starts this weekend.

Looks like BMW will be rolling out the 2007 X-3 and X-5, but no signs of anything else very interesting except the hydrogen/gas combo. Looks like the E-93 will have to wait at least a couple of more months, unless they surprise us.

The show has not started yet, so fingers crossed. Also, they did skip the Geneva Show for the coupe and just released the pictures a few weeks afterwards. That also is a possibility. -Brett

Paris is going to be a disappointment for BMW fans, that's why I won't be going. They will be showing the Z4 coupé, new X3 & the e92, but that's about it. The new X5 won't be there.

However, last I heard there will be atleast one surprise for BMW fans. There a couple of ideas floating around (everything from X5 to M3) but I guess anythings possible. As with the X5, the 3er cabrio is also completely done. Eitherone would be "technically" show ready, and at the very least likely sitting in a back room during the show. The show does not technically start until about 1:00a PST on Thursday and goes for 2 weeks. So we have plenty time to speculate about it. -Brett

A surprise would imply something we have not seen before, no?
So that would make it either the 3er convertible, the 1er three-door (possibly with the turbo?), or something else entirely new. Nothing else would technically be a "surprise".

They could also try to pass off the 335i sedan as the "suprise" as its not planned. Other likely candidates: 3er Cabrio 1er Cabrio M3 Sedan X5 Less likely candidates: 1er Coupe M3 Coupe M3/5 Touring 6er MidLife facelift X6 (CLS competitor) Z2 Concept -Brett

I'm willing to be it's the 3 series convertible as well. Makes more sense for them than showing a model already released. And with all the spy pics and such, that model would seem to be the obvious choice for them to surprise everyone with.

The car will be at the show... I can all but confirm it. Whether or not it is shown off though is another question. Its not unheard of BMW (or others) to bring "extra" models/concepts ready to be shown, and then end up not presenting them. -Brett
