tyre dilema

Can you help? car is 3yrs and time for tyres,thinking of going non run flats on my 335d.I have been told to go slightly oversize front + rear i.e 265r and 235f
these size tyres help with the tracking of roads and helps with the 4 wheel geometry which also needs sorting.Can any one give me some help as to what they have done? Thanks guys appreciate your info.

Are you sure the garage isn't trying to sell you what they have in stock?

Right.

Firstly, what wheels do you have? The oversize tyre thing ONLY applied to people fitting Falken 452s to 19" staggered wheels, because Falken don't (or didn't) make the correct sizes.

I've just had 18" Falken 452s fitted, same size as OEM (225/40/18 and 255/35/18), and they're a perfect fit.

Wider tyres will only ever make tramlining worse, regardless what car or tyre you have.

4 wheel geometry setup shouldn't be needed unless you've been messing with the suspension in some way - lowering for example.

for 18inch wheels, bmw 189 style....you can go 235 for the fronts....I think that the optimum size would be 235 anyways...

how are the falkens btw?....i think my next set would be either falkens or vreds...

If you're considering a different size from the original spec, I'd recommend that you speak with your insurer first.

Thanks guys,ive decided to stick with run flats and the correct size.It was a toss up between both and downside to runflats being a bit uncomfortable bit more expensive and my insurance company didnt know whether it was a modification to go non runflat advised to reed the policy small print(tossers).
However,non runflats were a bit cheaper,but then you had to buy a spare,tin of weld and a jack etc,but after speaking to variouse local garages they all said the same thing after using weld it contaminates the inside of the tyre quite badley and they can no longer get patches and glue to stick on the inside of the tyre in order to repair; then you have to replace the whole tyre what works out cheaper? and are more inconvenience?
