Respect Sir! you must have done quite a lot of probing to pinpoint the problem. Luckily only that transistor was fried.

Thanks for sharing the processor's ballmap.

IRF644S. This was the closest match I could find at Digi-Key when comparing the datasheets. The original part was IRF644B.

Very nice job!

For those not as brave as you. I had the same codes on my new acquired 07 335i, 37k miles with no warranty. Turns out DME is covered under Federal Emissions Warranty, 8yrs or 80,000 miles. This took me digging in plain site to find out, page 39 of the service and warranty manual. The dealer informed me I'm covered today.

I was really hoping mine would have been covered too. The odometer had just gotten to 82,000 miles when this happened.

I was curious if you would also get a 30BB failure if it was actually a DME issue?

I emailed Pico Technologies to ask whether their scopes can check firing circuit on the piezo direct injectors. I have a Pico 3223, used it to look at all sorts of electronics problems from a diagnostic standpoint. If they ever email me back, I'll let you know what it takes to scope the injector circuit. The coil circuit is easy.

He checked wiring diagrams and found a shorted transistor for injector #5. Looks like a wiring harness fault took out the transistor, not an internal failure.

Nice work! I didn't realize you were on the forums here haha. This place needs some good DIY's.

I'm only able to find IRF644SPBF, looking at the datasheet this seems fine, what do you think?

Are DMEs interchangeable between cars, what would this entail, jus wondering if it is indeed possible to swap a "flashed" DME?
