It kinda makes you wonder... one less tire and rim to supply in a new car, they wear out faster (lease returns) and they are more expensive. Not to mention I got mailers about how my local BMW dealership now offers Tires at competitive pricing. A new "offering" so to speak.

Are we just being forced this new "technology" for manufacture cost savings and revenue opportunities?

I had to replace all four tires within 17k because of bubbles on one side.
They are not cheap! My Michelin Pilots are way better BTW. Ride, Handling and are lasting longer.

are the newer run flats any better? I have a 2011 loaner with 17" conti RFT and it seems to ride much softer than my 2008 with 16" Bridgestone RFT

Contis in general seem to have slightly better reviews, durability and comfort compared to the bridgestone counterpart.

i have every faith in runflats that hasnt be repaired before, allways use mich'i PS2 and twice saved me being at the roadside, i would never repair them and use again as i have seen with my own eyes what happens to a repaired tyre at speed,

I'm currently running Potenza RFT and simple Advans (mismatch due to early unexpected camber wear). Once the Potenzas wear out, I'm going to stop purchasing RFs altogether.

Do you guys that have ditched the RFT's switch rims or stay with the same rims? I ask because I was going to use non-RFT's and the shop said they wouldn't install them on my stock 189's as the rims were specifically designed for RFT's. Is there any truth to that?
