help identifying a missing hose or cap in engine bay

Left side of engine block if facing the car. Two open nozzles which appear that they should have a hose or cap like the other photos.

My dad has an 08 n54 and he has what looks like caps.

First one without anything is my 07.

Second one with the boxed cap is my dad's 08.

Mine is an 07.

Those are your boost solenoids, and you can't buy the cap separately.

Thanks George,

Any explanation as why they are not there? Is that just a cap, if so I can't just improvise. I have been getting a 30ff just from normal driving, maybe this is the culprit.

I recall a thread a ways back where someone bought a car that had a certain tune, where the tune installation involved running a vacuum line to that nipple under the cap. There is a little diaphragm that clips over that nipple, then the cap covers that cap. I'm not sure how you could replicate that yourself, without replacing them, or finding a diaphragm and cap to install on yours.

I have a couple old solenoids at home; I can see if they will come off, then go back on. If so, you can have them.

Don't do this, it needs to be vented. The caps did come off without breaking, and fit snugly when I attempted to put them back on.

This is the part you're missing

Under the cap it's just a screen, a filter I guess.

After inspecting it, and not having much luck releasing what looked like tabs, I just pried right here, and it came off intact with a little effort.

Leaving us with this.

I put the cap back on the screen part and it fit snugly when I put it over the nipple again, though I didn't press it all the way down, as it seemed like it would snap back into place...so I think you'll be fine with these. Just send me a PM with your address.
