built an M3 coupe on the US site

I built a new M3 on the US site, and it comes (without navi)to $66350, which is a lot less than up here.

To remind me the extra costs to bring it here are:
about $1000 for the letters from BMW
about $7K in duty
gst/pst
what else

and from what I heard you have to get someone in the US to buy it for you since BMW USA can't sell to Canadians?

also, heard it is quite a hassle on getting that letter from BMW Canada

lastly, when you finally want to sell it, it may be more difficult selling a US car in Canada

A lot of dealers in the U.S. are marking up the price of m3s towards 100k. Good luck finding a car at msrp! My car is a u.s. import, the cluster wasn't changed & it passed all inspections fine...

M3, psssss, please.

For that kind of money get a GTR. Supposedly they will sell at MSRP in E-town.$ 81k

Better yet, get a used, low km M5 from the US and then bring that up. Plenty around Arizona.

Sorry...I always thought the HVAC displays both celsius and fahrenheit depending on your settings...why do you need to change it? I can't imagine it being a required change either.

Here's an image of an M3 being marked up $30K: http://www.dragtimes.com/blog/2008-b...priced-at-100k.

Mind you, I am doubtful that the GTR will be selling at list...

Not sure. Just what I have read on various forums on the issue.

It could be that the Canadian cluster is not compatible (software wise) with the HVAC from a US unit. Sounds dumb, but I wouldn't put it past BMW.

I find that highly unlikely. The manufacturing process will be designed to ensure the least variance between components for different markets.

The main I would hesitate to get a car from the US is because when I wanna get rid of it, it would be a pain in the ass to sell.
