Hit and Run
Hey guys,
I was parked in Berkeley over the weekend and someone hit my car and left I still don't understand how it happened but somehow they hit my rear bumper, rear quarter panel and passenger door (all driver side) and left. All this damage while I was parked on a side road. (I'll post up a pic when I get off of work) Anyway, I'm posting this as this is my first accident ever and I'm looking for advice with insurance/Geico. I have Collision insurance so I just have to pay my deductible but I just am looking for information that might help me to get more money from their inspector (or not get screwed) as I want to go to a different body shop and (if possible) finally get the M-tech rear bumper. Also, I know a lot of people recommend RJs in the South Bay but does anyone know of any good body shops in the San Jose area? I don't mind driving over there but if there's someone just as good closer than I'd rather do that. Any help is appreciated!

Not in San Jose but in Oakland: H&H Collision.
They are amazing. Tell Raymond "grant sent you." He worked on my previous Evo, motorcycles, girlfriends mini, my old Escalade. Superb work. And it's guaranteed. If you feel anything is sub par they fix it no questions asked

I'm gonna be biased and say go to RJ's! It worth the drive, his shop does great work, he worked on my E90 and fitted the entire M3 rep kit onto the car.
You can always check out the autoshop sticky here... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46360 |

I just got my msport bumper done at B-line auto. They are in SJ and have done all my work so far. Ask for Ryan he'll take care of you really laid back guy. I think they specialize in Euros too cause thats all I saw in thier shop.

^Sweet, thanks. I ended up taking it to RJs to get a quote, that guy really knows his stuff and loves BMWs. That's honestly all I saw in his shop. Anyway, Geico is screwing me over and it looks like I'm going to have to pay for my rear bumper out of pocket and then some . So here's the question everyone asks:
Does anyone have an Mtech rear bumper for sale? preferably in JB and in the NorCal area?

Sorry to hear. If its a hit and run, shouldn't the insurance cover everything!? I talked to RJ's before, seems like an honest shop. Planning on getting some paint work there too.

It was side swiped and the bumper cracked but the crack was perpendicular to the swipe (it was under the trunk). It's clearly a stress fracture but they wont cover it. Since someone apparently hit me there as well So they paid to fix it and not replace it even though it's shot. So it's outta pocket

wasn't someone selling an Mtech rear here in SF? I vaguely remember the tabs were damaged or broken...

I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope things work out for you. I assume Geico's decision is final or so and you can't debate it? I've never had an accident so I don't know how the process works.
On what street in Berkeley did you park? Be very careful parking there, I parked overnight outside of my apartment once because they were doing construction on the road right outside my garage entrance and the next morning I got a no front plate ticket. Got my plate on now...lol. Also, I saw an older gentleman in his Prius try to parallel park (even with back up camera) in a space that was quite small, and he bumped the car behind him. Then he figured out it was too small, drove down the street, parked, and I saw him walk back up and not even glance at the car he bumped into. As for the m-tech bumper, I've been kind of looking for one too for awhile but it just seems quite uncommon to find used as most people are happy with it. Good luck with the repairs!! I'm sure it'll come out great =)

Man I got rear ended on Dwight kind of near Shattuck, the lady who hit me said she didn't have have insurance info or divers licence and just gave me her number, which turned out to be fake. Luckily I got her licence plate number and my insurance took care of everything.

Parking in Berkeley especially southside means trouble.. I wouldnt street park anything north of Dwight.. Parker would probably be the most ideal =D

+1. Thank God I live on north side with garage parking. I'm always scared to park on south side to visit friends. Needless to say, many visits to south side are short :P. If I ever need to go to south side again, I need to start riding my cheap, but treasured, $20 Craigslist bicycle again and more often .

I pray that nothing happens to mine then :X. For slightly more protection, my garage has lifts and I chose the top level so every time I drive in, I always send my car to the top level where it's much more hidden and more difficult to access. It just sucks when the lifts break down every now and again and I'm not on the ground floor. Then it's just bus, BART, or bicycle
