Very interesting talk over on the Lexus boards about an ISF Vs. a modded 335i |

Yeah, some of those comments were really, really funny.
"When his engine seizes" "Yeah modded 335i's are no joke. Even modded 1 series can pack a punch with the right mods." "Don't worry about the 335i that's competition for the is350 not the isF. You should be able to take home without a problem what so ever." |

Who would get a gtr to beat bmws rofl. Thats a fail. It can also beat cars 3x m5 money so why would any bmw give a loss to a modded gtr a second thought lol Its like if a ZX-14 blows by, I'd just roll my eyes, maybe say cool, and call him a tryhard.
lol I especially like "when his warranty runs out and he'll need a new car yours will still run" hahahah typical lexus owner worried about perfect reliability Last edited by M5Rlz; 03-17-2013 at 02:04 PM.. |

Tried finding a video with a full bolt on and tuned 335i against an ISF... no luck. Only JB3 with minor bolt ons. Every time the 335i hung with it throughout the entire race and even pulled it a few times, lost in the higher speed runs. All the videos I found were lightly modified ISFs too.

I have run against one up to 110 or 115 on the toll road/green way at night coming home and I easily hung with him/her couldn't see the driver clearly. Hit the toll and we both were rolling about 15 mph and I was in second gear with e85. I wasn't trying to hard either and pulled the next gear and just toyed with him/her. I am not impressed with any Lexus so I am biased.

Altought it really depends if you are OK with auto tranny and not as good MPG numbers, but obviously new ISF is a better car.
I did read bunch of negatives about 1st Gen ISFs Maybe someday when I have kids, 2011 ISF would be a great fit for me. |

Hi guys:
As my sign up date and post count suggests, I'm a previous 335i owner and am familiar with both cars. I got a 2007 335i right when they first came out. It was the first (and to date, only) car I've ever ordered from the factory, and probably refreshed that page where BMW updates the status of your car's build a thousand times. I got rid of the car after 2.5 years and was kind of sour on the experience. The car looked great and was a blast to drive, but I had all the HPFP issues that seemed to have plagued the early cars. Is that still a problem? I know mine was in the shop several times, and once for over a week. BMW gave me loaners, but still, it wasn't what I was expecting from the reliability angle. I went 12.89 @ 108 or 109mph in my E90 335i. I had the turbo tuner, which was one of the early plug n play mods for the car. Everything else was stock. As you can see from the ISF crowd, some people are running 12.5s bone stock, and high 11s modded. Having had experience with both cars I can say that MY ISF is faster bone stock than MY 335i was with the turbo tuner. It's not a GTR vs a 328 difference, but it is faster. Also, you guys joke about the reliability angle, but it does make a difference. Maybe I had a bad 335i or bought a bad year (first model year), but that car was not as reliable as it should have been. I would not kick a tuned 335is out of bed, but I'm more partial to the ISF for many reasons. A full bolt on and tuned 335i would NOT be faster than a full bolt on ISF. Not on a track, not at a drag strip, and not in a road race. And if you optioned out a 335is to have all the same stuff that the Lexus comes with standard, you're not toooo far off in price difference either. |

Thanks I enjoyed reading through that thread, I hope the 335i beats him haha
BTW I agree with others that the IS-F is a beautiful car that I would be proud to own.
