Quote for fluid changes
Hi all. I am at 52k miles. Being quoted around $700 parts and labor for auto transmission, transfer case, front and rear differential fluid changes.
Is this reasonable? Thanks. |

A few months ago I was quoted:
Transmission parts & labor $381.28 Front diff parts & labor $114.94 Rear diff parts & labor $114.94 Transfer case parts & labor $225.66 So your quote was $26.10 less than ours. Make sure that they reset the transfer case computer when the change the fluid. Getting the brake fluid flushed at the same time?

+1 on brake fluid
I'd recommend a coolant change as well if it hasn't been done, and maybe a power steering flush. I guess you can tell I don't believe in these "lifetime" fluids. All the fluids in my car are not the ones with which it left the factory! |

They reset the transfer case when they changed the fluid. The transmission shifts much more smoothly after the fluid/filter change.

I don't touch fluids other than brake fluids coolant oil and power steering. What do I know I have had a dozen cars over 200k and 3 over 270k.

Would u be able to find out the details about which tool was used and which selections were chosen to do the reset for the transfer case? I'm think of doing this on my own and would like to give it a shot. Thank you in advance.

I have no idea how they reset the transfer case adaptation. I knew from these forums that the reset needed to be done and made sure that the SA reminded the tech to do it.
