Having trouble locating the fuel pressure rail sensor for the N55. Anyone can help out?

the sensor is behind the plastic cover that covers the top of the engine. It's not visible. You're gonna have to reach into the back and feel around for it.
On my car, I was able to find it standing on the driver's side. If you lift the plastic cover up slightly, you'll gain more access underneath it. Feel around for the connector, which is large (like on the flex fuel wiring). |

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think it's right on top. Take a look at the flex fuel sensor included with the new wire. It should be identical to that.

It might just be easier to remove the plastic cover. If you remove the passenger side strut bar it should come right off. I recently did this to unplug the o2 sensors when doing a DP install. Literally takes an extra 5 minutes. Just be sure you have an E18 torx to remove the strut bar, it's not common.

Edit: figured it out. Had to reread instructions, deleted question.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but wondering if anyone has any additional insight into finding the sensor on an E84 N55 engine. Have been looking/feeling around for about 45 minutes, but either I don't know what I am feeling for or just haven't been able to find it. Getting frustrated! Any help?
Thanks. |

To see if it's the same as the E9X series.

Update...found the sensor, but am now having a hell of a time removing it with the tab. I am sure it is just a matter of time and continued playing with it, but man is this frustrating!

Thanks. I am continuing to try. Question for you. Can the car be driven with the flex fuel wires attached to the JB4, but NOT attached to the car? So if I am ultimately not able to figure this soon, can I still drive the car or would I need to remove the jb4 in order to drive it?

Here are some pictures I took during my install since I couldn't find any good ones. Notice that I remove the passenger strut bar and only moved the cover forward about two inches. I think it's impossible without doing this and it also makes installing the 2nd TMAP sensor easier.

Also to whoever is doing this in the future, the easiest way I got it was leaning forward from the center, squeezing the little shitty tab and pulling it out.
Getting it form the side is impossible for me. (removed rear cover/left strut) |
