Brake Rotor Replacement
I'm interested to see what others think. I had my car checked before the warranty expired and whilst it was there Knowing that the brakes are coming up on the rear I had the mechanic measure the rotors. He reported that the rear disc are 9.24mm thick and the min is apparently 8.9mm thick. Whilst the car was in at BMW having the vacuum pump replaced (under warranty ) the dealer told me that both the pads and disc needed to be replaced.
My question is should I just get the pads done at this change or should I do the discs also?

Change both pads and discs... you'll put new pads on now, then when these pads are barely worn in it'll be time to change discs meaning you'll need to replace pads again aswell.

Pretty sure the 320i's have a solid rear disc, so <1cm is about right

for higher load applications. I expect that the Australian 320i only had the 296 x 10 disks. I would look at a brake upgrade if keeping the car. I think Stuart from BMR makes a good point about replacing disks and pads. I would not buy them from a BMW dealer though as they will cost twice as much. |

It's really going to depend on service and brake cost by an indi as which way I'll go. I think Stuart has raised a good point about the discs so I will be getting both done.

Hi everyone. this is my first time on e90 post. Good to be on here. i had the rear rotors, pads and sensor done on my E90 323i today. All up for parts and labour cost me around $370. Brake parts cost me $310. Got them from a bmw dealer believe it or not.
Dealers name.Doncaster BMW in bundoora. if u live in melbourne and are after any parts for your beemer don't hesitate to give them a call, trust me guys they are very competitive on prices for a bmw dealer. If u want the best price possible then ask for Dean Reid. He's a really good bloke who will help u out. Cheers. |

I've got some good braking options listed on the site, www.bmraw.com, unfortunately the site is down today (will be back up again tomorrow!!!!)
If you need a price on anything let me know. Cheers, Stuart |

I just got rear rotors, pads and sensor for my 323i from http://clickableautomotive.com.au/ (wasnt listed on the site but when I called them they found the parts using my VIN). It was OEM and cost me $254 (incl $10 delivery). Much cheaper than the $550-ish I was getting quoted by dealers and indys. Will be getting it installed at next service.
