Took my 335 to autox


Looking back at the video I can really see how it could be cleaned up alot more in areas. Still mucho funo

First time really pushing the handling of my car. And really makes the lack of LSD apparent, at least at higher boost levels.
Not sure if I want to dive into getting an LSD but thinking of getting the M3 strut brace and front sway bar.

Car: E92 335i, sport package, Stock suspension.


Anyone have a autox setup?


Thoughts and advice are welcome.

a couple of things if you don't mind..

1) sit closer to the steering wheel, your hands look too extended
2) don't muscle the car that much, that was one of the hardest things for me to stop doing, just throwing the steering wheel around... you can be fast without being too rough on it.

Thanks for the advice.
1. I will try that. Somewhere I picked up that bad habit.
2. To be honest I was a bit frustrated, this was the last run. And I really pushed it.
I missed an easy gate for some reason on the run before and after that (during that same run) started to really push it to see what it would do before it just for fun.

I didn't mean don't push the car, that's what these things are for; and what fun would it be otherwise? .. what I meant is, it could just be the video, but looks like you're yanking on the steering wheel, rather than being smooth with it.. takes a bit of time, I still catch myself doing it.

I just took my 335xi to its first autox this past weekend too. Was tons of fun and can't wait 'til the next event.

Don't really have much advice other then what I have gathered and plan on doing myself. Which is, not to worry so much about car and setup, but just try to get as much seat time as possible.

I do however keep finding myself looking for new rims and tires specifically for autox though, lol. Someday...

not too shabby. Like said before, sit closer and try and make the steering wheel motion more fluid. You also let off the gas A LOT, so try and stay under partial throttle and maybe use the brake. It will slow down your entrance speed into those sharp corners and allow you to punch out of them instead of throwing the car in (if that makes sense). You did do that in about the last third of the track, but first 2/3 not so much. Keep up the good work!

Left foot braking?

I thought about that myself but I don't trust my left foot in being a smooth braker yet

+1 on seating position. A good starting point is to be able to extend your arms and have the bottom of your wrists sit right on top of the steering wheel.

Also remember slow in, fast out and always look ahead.

Nah nah, haha, I mean like partial throttle instead of lifting and using the brakes more. It sounds like when you take your foot off the accelerator it comes completely off (perhaps im wrong ). There is never a point on the track where I take my foot completely off the gas unless I am braking, haha. Hope that helps a little.

Good job, the smoother you are the quicker you will be that's the rule (not to overdrive the car), also sitting in the right position makes all the difference. Take some time to adjust your seat and put it all the way down for lower center of gravity if not done already. Also make sure you are in a position that doesn't toss you around in the car, if you get tossed then how can you control the car. Adjust the steering wheel up down pull it towards you. Your arms should be slightly bent. My 2 cents.

I agree, but too late
I just read too many good reviews on adding an LSD for straight line, cornering driving benefits etc.
I won't do anything else to the car since I need seat time more than anything.
Figured the car should have came with it to start with
