Guy backed up in to me

so today i was driving to a car wash and stopped behind a car at a stop sign. He decided to park the car and start backing up and backed up into my car my car isnt as badly damaged as his but still called my insurance and they said that he called and claimed he backed in to me so i guess im lucky cause he could of said i rear ended him. He also said he didnt see me. i thank him for being honest.[ATTACH]Name: 20130112_120724.jpg

you gotta express strongly that you want new bumper and new headlights. And I don't think you should've contacted your insurance (they will now file a claim and will show Minor damage reported on your carfax), which will effect your selling price in the future.
My case with my car before (g37s), other person admitted fault,.I contacted his insurance directly. I went to very very expensive body shop (usually what dealerships use), and get a quote, other person's insurance company person come, show them your damage and the quote price. They give / send you check for that amount, and you are free to use that money however (fix the bumper and headlight at the cheaper shop and keep the rest) or replace (perhaps Mtech or m3rep) bumper and headlight at the cheaper (reasonable) shop.

your insurance price will not go up since it's not your fault, but carfax will show.. I don't know about Canada though.

He is in the province of British Columbia, they only have one government controlled insurance company.

Also, any REPUTABLE shop in North American should always report to Car Fax.

Definitely plead for a new headlight/s! Otherwise they'll buff that out etc and they will be hazy in a few months.

His looks more damaged .... But your looks more costly to repair withe the headlights and all .... Make sure the lights are ok ..... Like don't get moisture in there months later due to cracks etc ...

Take it to Ken @ No.1 Collision in Richmond..tell him Jon referred you. He does a good job and they are specialist at repairing BMW and other luxury cars... You will feel like you are at a car show except with cars that have dents or missing bumpers.

This.

Have your shop send over the quote to the insurance company, have the insurance company send the check directly to you, do what you please with the money.
