Lock knob stuck down

The lock knob is stuck in the down position on my front passenger door. The door locks and unlocks properly but the knob doesn't move, and is actually recessed just a little lower than the other three knobs, enough that it's impossible to grip it with anything.

Do I have to disassemble the door panel, or is there a trick to this?

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but there isn't one labelled 'interior' or similar.)

Unfortunately, you will prolly need to remove the door panel to release it, and figure out why it is stuck in the 1st place

Thanx for the reply. I suspect you are correct, to my disappointment. Now to find a DIY on removing the door panel...
