323i to 325i conversion (3-stage intake manifold)
I've just bought a used 325i 3-stage intake manifold on ebay.co.uk with the intent to replace the 2-stage intake on my 323i.
Power would increase from 140kW to 170kW (230bhp) with a good tune. I've read lots of threads on the US spec 328i but does anyone here have experience doing this on an Australian 323i (N52B25)? Last edited by scanspeak; 10-04-2017 at 02:50 AM.. |

I’d say a tune would do more than more airflow, it’s an NA car right?
Also 3 Stage vs 2 stage? Don’t you just need to filter the air, it’s not compressed, not fuel injected into the intake manifold. I would be careful what you read, those 328i guys come up with some suspicious number from intake changes... |

Not voodoo. It's the only difference between a 323i and a 325i.
The mechanics are well proven, the trick will be in getting the mapping off a 325i onto my ECU. Working on it ..... |

Sounds like a stretch man. But if you are going to do it, get some dyno before and after runs.

Mission accomplished!
SouthernBM did the fitment and ECU flash/tune and I have to say the results are very successful. More torque everywhere, just way more fun to drive. Very happy with this upgrade. |

I thought all N52s in Australia came with the 3-stage manifold that consists of 2 DISA valves. Do you have a photo of the old 2-stage manifold? Doe it look like this?

It looks the same from the top but on the 323i when you look under the intake manifold you will see it is missing 1 DISA valve. All 325i's have 2 DISA valves.

Not really.
The 325i typically costs $3k-$4k more and try finding one with a 6MT, MSport pack, and without IDrive, in your preference of colour. |

Hoping some of you still online, I have the 325i. Was reading this morning that people are swapping the 325 or 328 manifold with the 330 3 stage manifold to get the extra 45hp. From what I gathered, the difference with the manifolds are just the two additional disa valve. I can see both disa valve on my manifold, does that mean I can just flash my car with the 330 whatever flash and I get the extra power?

Hi Chad053, from what I've read no you can't. I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone will speak up to correct me.
From my understanding: 323 can go with a 325 twin disa valve manifold plus tune to get 325 power. 328 can go with a 330 twin disa valve manifold plus tune to get 330 power. Th difference is that the 323 and 325 are both 2.5 Litre engines with the same engine and just different intake manifolds and tunes. Whereas the 328 and the 330 are both 3.0 Litre engines with the same engine and just different intake manifolds and tunes. Unfortunately you can't do anything cheap and easy to a 2.5 Litre engine to get it up to the 3.0 Litre power or more unless you want to do some serious engine mods. |

I think the 330i E9x were only sold in 2006 in Australia.
The 328i is the US spec which came with 3.0l engines. They had a lower tune providing about the same power as our 325i, presumably due to poor US fuel quality or the US preference for more torque.. |
