What is this piece on my dash?

Apologies if this is the wrong section, but I wasn't sure where to post this. I bought my E92 used, and there is a small block located on the driver's side corner of the dash (pic attached). Is this OE BMW? Or some sort of aftermarket sensor for a garage door or something? I want to install a boost gauge in that corner, and the piece is right smack where I want to put it. Any help is much appreciated.

Looks like a GPS or Satellite Radio antenna for an aftermarket piece of equipment.
