cracking looking car... my mate has the current XKR, which replaced the previous XKR-S (when it was still the 4.2). I can certainly say these are phenomenal cars.
Between you and him, i'm pretty much decided that when the 325i goes in a couple of years, i'll be looking for an NA 5.0 XK. The R is a bit out of my reach price wise, but the basic 5.0 seems to be amazingly quick, and just as luxurious as its more powerful brother! |

I know it sounds a bit eclectic - I've hankered after the CLA since I heard the AMG version was definitely coming (as much as I like the CLS they're too big and heavy) but the 911 is an itch I've yet to scratch and the need to scratch it grows stronger daily!

The guy who runs the business next to ours used to refer to it just like that. Then he turned up at work last week in a beautiful black 911 Carrera S. He picked it up for (I think) about £25K and it's got about 60K on the clock. He drove it down from Edinburgh and it looks mint.

I'll be looking for a 2 or 4s with sports Chrono, manual, sports seats and sports exhaust.

Super entertaining posts, thank you. Really enjoying reading about this XKR-S. The interior looks nice, the headlining is a nice touch. I have some of the carbon look leather kicking around my goods cupboard

A bit late, but condolences on your loss Andrew.
Stunning pics of a gorgeous car,and the pics from Paris are terrific. Looking forward to the pics of the 'F' type/ the 991/CLA or insert name of great car here ..................... The new A type looks like a winner for Merc, who seem to be turning up the button on the styling stakes,BMW is still on lukewarm with what I've seen on the new F30's.

Its funny as N/A one is M3-like performance-wise yet it's largely forgotten - in fact, it's practically as powerful / fast as the original 4.2 XKR. I had one as courtesy car earlier in the year and even after the XKR, I never thought it seemed slow. Quote:
I know where to come when I feel the need to cover any plastic in my car with some more leather. Oh wait....there is no plastic in it left to cover Quote:
'A Type' I think all this Merc and Jag talk is messing with your mind The A Class on the other hand looks very nice although I'm still not sure on the screen on the dash which (purposefully I'd imagine) looks like a tacked on iPad. In AMG trim I reckon it's one of the best lookers in it's class. |

Very entertaining as usual Andrew! It's a great car and certainly loads of fun to drive. The thing with the RWD car sounded very familiar to me, I'm also seeing the same effect in mine with all that torque. Can't wait to get a ride in it one of these days! We'll be in Dover for Christmas, so maybe we'll have a chance to catch up then.
I'm still not too much into that portable-loo-blue colour though, but maybe it'll grow on me once I see it in the flesh. Alpina_B3_Lux

Just browsing AT and found this beauty, one careful fastidious owner me thinks......
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...?logcode=ucnnp I thought Andrew sold via WBAC? Who are connected with a big national chain, wonder how it ended up in a small prestige trader on the south coast, maybe it was auctioned. That is assuming it is Palmnuts, XKRS which I am pretty sure it is. |

I think it was the allure of the SLS, and who can blame him. There is no way the trader will get over £70K for that car, there are similar ones at the same age and mileage at Jag dealers for a lot less, a little speculative that price me thinks. It is a beauty though. Those Jags seem to lose more money more quickly than most high performance sports cars.

He sold it to WeBuyAnyCar for £65k+ not sure he was entirely specific, although £67K seems to spring to mind.
I was just car surfing and came across it. |
