when is a good time for summer tires?

I'm really not enjoying the winter tires, these are my first set and I got them after a horrible experience (3 busted tires in 3 weeks) in January. They work well in the snow but as soon as I put them on I felt a sudden decrease in the car's 'sharpness' in handling. Maybe it's because of the compound maybe it's because they're 17s vs 18s but I want my super sports on again! I look at them everyday in the garage as I'm leaving and think sometime soon I'm gonna have a BMW again.

Last year I got them on April 9th, so when are you all switching back?

I just bought a new set of summers and had them sitting in the basement for over a month. I couldn't take it anymore so I put them on last weekend. I don't know if its the right thing to do or not, but it was driving me nuts!

I always put them back on weekend after my father's birthday (2nd week of April). This year it might be delayed due to me being lazy and not getting new set of tires yet

I'd say 2nd week of April is about right. I was recently wondering the same thing, and found these:

Snowfall records in NYC, if you look carefully, we still get snow in April.

Weather.com monthly forecast (take it with a pinch of salt... no wait... a heaping pile would be more suitable.):

BTW, we're expecting some snow again next Tuesday....
