Is Leatherette Crack covered under warranty?

I just noticed today, as I was cleaning the car. There is a crack on my front driver seat, top layer of the leatherette is cracking and I can see it the white layer below.

Is this something bmw warranty would cover?? I'm guessing not cover due to cosmetic.

I thought leatherette was supposed to be long lasting that leather?

Any advice?

They should take care of that without any problems if you're in factory warranty.

Not to offend but,

are you fat? Maybe the durability of the 'ette has something to do with how boney or padded your ass is.

If my ass type (boney as hell) is similiar to yours, then it would give me cause for concern

hey i had the exact sameproblem on my car with leathette. The dealer replaced the bottom seat cushion and leatherette no problem under warranty. I am only 170 lbs and had the car for 2 years. They wrote on my receipt that the cause of cracking was due to the cushion in the seat collapsing.

My warranty will be up next month.
Is this still true that the crack is covered by warranty if it's being reported?

Thanks much.

Well, the real question is not whether it is "covered under warranty" or not, but rather what they replace it with (when it is covered).

Do they replace it with the same kind of leatherrette that will crack again in 1.5-2 years? Or did they actually fix the problem and replace it with some sort of "new" leatherrette, which doesn't crack so easily anymore?

Well, my warranty expired on my 2007, and I noticed the small crack on the seat.
I wonder what they do to fix that? do they have to replace the seat or just the section of the leathrette?
Any idea of cost to do that, since I take good care of the car.

Thanks

The pleather was cracked on my DS outer bolster with around same mileage (26K) Entire DS backrest seat cover was replaced under warranty for $0.

And yes, they replace it with the same type OEM cover, so No, there is nothing to stop it from happening again in another 26K - but at least it has that much more to go before I have to fix it again - I'm more careful how I get in & out now and try not to hit the bolster sliding in & out of the car.

may be off topic but does 50k warranty cover a chipping steering wheel trim?
