Yes, probably, but datalogs will bear that out. Mr. 5's intake is, in my opinion, the best solution out there. This will hopefully be a good solution for people with fitment issues, who want ease of installation, and a tidy engine bay. My guess is that the datalogged difference between Mr. 5's and ours will be little or negligible, but he gets full credit for the concept.
Didn't Dinan come out with their intake before Mr. 5?

does this require you to mod your stock airbox or will you be selling this with a new airbox as well?

As Alex said, without a wind tunnel, this isn't perfect science, but if you look where the torque delta is on the dyno graph, the performance increase is where intuitively you would expect it to be. Street datalogs should bear that out.

I think this may be the reason for the majority of the power gains. If some overlook this disclosure, they are led to beleive the gains are from just the Intake Mod.

I would like to see a before and after with just the high-flow panel filter.

I don't have that exact test, but recently, I tested our 135 (FBO, Helix Big Turbos, no meth), with just a panel filter in the stock box, and for giggles tested it again with the box top and panel removed. I saw a 8whp peak gain, with good area under the curve in a similar delta to what you see with the above test. That's what got me started with this project.

Perhaps, I don't know: we don't see a lot of Dinan stuff here.

Dunno yet. The stock box from BMW is redonculously expensive for a piece of molded plastic, so buying them and modding them would price the intake out of reasonable dollar-to-performance ratio. Of course with a billion DCIs out there, maybe we can get a bunch of used boxes.

Can we just send our stock boxes, pay then you send it back ready to install? Yeah, I kinda want the hole to be perfectly drilled.

^ yes this can be an option. Some people cant do this because the car is their daily driver but we will have plenty of options for people.

Eric, if you wouldn't mind would you PLEASE share some dyno graphs of the helix upgraded turbos? I have been tossing the idea of upgraded turbos around in my head ever since i purchased the car and with helix being within an easy days drive i pretty much have decided IF i was to do it, it would be a helix upgrade. However, i can find essentially zero dyno graphs(other than the ridiculously boost tapered JB3 on the helix site.) Hell, just PM me if you want.

Eric needs to try the Cobb Stage 2+ or stage 3 beta on his car OR I should have them on my car in the next few weeks and plan on running Cobb stage 3 beta map 20psi tapering to 17psi should make mid to upper 400's on pump if my calcs are correct! These turbos are in their sweet spot at this boost level and you're right up to his point they have been severely underutilized!

That's awesome
But if Helix is doing dyno runs and testing why not share it? I totally undertsand if it's the "new" Helix turbos in the works, but why not share if its the same turbos that have been available for a while?

Eric runs the GIAC and factory cat back and while GIAC is a great tune it doesn't maximize the upgraded turbos in regards to where the boost levels should be, my car will show what they are really capable of I'll also do my dyno testing on a Dynojet to make things more comparable to other big turbo dynos, as the Helix Mustang dyno is very stingy!

My car seems much happier with the stock box in but I loose the sound that the dci provides as well as the flow.

I hope this is priced at equal or lesser value than the dci because it's half the materials and involves cutting the stock box. However to me this is twice the product! When can I get this!?

I'm liking this. I'm in as long as the price is reasonable.

Yesterday we ordered two test filters: one for cars with the meth pump, one for cars without. These filters are of higher quality and design than the off-the-shelf unit that I prototyped the kit with. If fitment and performance is as good or better than what is on my car, we'll go ahead with a production run.
