Yes was aware of that, but was the only example of a virus/worm getting on to the OS.

It's just a matter of time, like Synergy69 said. Beginning of the end.

But its not the Mac OS that the vulnerability is with. So thats like saying ooo theres an exploit with DVDShrink for windows so windows is shit.

I agree in time as Mac OS X gets more popular then people will target it but I hope apple will keep on top of it. Time will tell

Apple already recommends and sells third party anti virus software as its urban myth that the Macs aren't targeted with viruses and malware.

Maybe so but nowhere to the degree of windows. I installed windows once on a new PC and within seconds of going on the internet had picked up multiple viruses.

Never in all the years of using macs have I ever experienced anything dodgy like that. (I have had a memory block fail, and part of the OS screw up after it shut off midway through an update, which simply required the disc to be inserted and booted from).. and that's with me having 3 mac towers, a mac book pro and iphone

I've had my new Macbook Pro for 3 to 4 weeks now and haven't got round to sorting anti virus yet. If I did this with my Windows laptop it would be buggered by now for sure

PC for work, Mac for home .. easy.

Im a financial modeller and have always used a Excel on the PC for it - ive tried at home using a mac - but all the shortcuts etc are different and its a nightmare. Then again have Excel 2008 on the mac and 2003 on the PC which seems to be the industry standard still.

Still hate how i cant get a decent version of msn messenger for mac with proper webcam support. Mercury messenger is the best ive used.

I use PCs at work as my EPOS system is Microsoft based, as is my back office software.

But at home we are all Mac now. I absolutely hate PCs, I have been using Macs for 4 years now, never bothered with virus software or malware software, I can load any app up and not worry about conflicts or spyware etc.

My parents struggled to learn how to use a PC for 3 years, so I talked them into getting a Mac, within a couple of months they were using it properly.

I always buy Sony Vaio Laptops when buying PCs as they tend to feel nice, are solid, and have a screen that can match the quality of Macs, but have to admit even though these are at the pricey end they are still a bit cheaper than the equivilent Mac.
At the end of the day though I used to buy a new Vaio every 12-18 months, I am now on my 3rd year with my Macbook Pro and still don't feel the need to upgrade it. I put in a 7200rpm hard drive and a new keyboard and it feels almost new again.

One area that does make a difference for me and means no matter how cheap a PC laptop is I wouldn't buy one, is battery life, the new Macbook Pro will give you a genuine 6 hours use, the same spec. Vaio, or even the macbook running Win 7 only gives around 3 hours at best. That is a massive difference.

Microsoft = free for all software and hardware = conflicts and crashes = price competition = Casio watches

Apple = controlled software and hardware = it just works = Price stabilisation = Rolex watches

My simple take on the two.

I have to use Windows for work although still XP Pro and Office 2003!!. I have a Windows laptop which I have had for 6 years and now hate. New Macbook is still in honeymoon period but I love it.

Agreed.

MAC = BMW, Mercs, etc Nice right out of the box.
PC = Civic, lots of upgrades if you want. Can be made faster then the above but it is still a Civic.

Just kidding, well not really.
