Media Solution Help
Wondering if anyone can suggest alternatives.
Looking at upgrading the audio in the house and need solutions for the bedrooms. Ideal is a unit which will do DAB, Internet Radio and network Mp3 streaming via WIFI. I've come across this radio http://www.revo.co.uk/digital-radio/revo-ikon.php Has all the options but built in speakers, Ideally need a unit with detached speakers in order to then mount/replace these with ceiling ones. Has anyone come across anything like this as my web searches have hit a blank.

Try this if you already have amplified speakers... only thing is it doesnt have DAB but what do you need that for when you've got internet radio.

Cool ideally want to avoid powered speakers as it means running power into the floor space so passive speakers would be better but will look into this sonos. Thought bit of an overkill for what I need as just need one room, might have to stick to built in speakers and forget about the ceiling stuff
DAB is still usefull with virgine media being not always reliable gives something to fall back on,

Nice easy controller for partys too. They've got unamped, amped and integrated with speaker 'boxes' for each room. Wireless. Although one of the main boxes needs internet access. Faultless in the 3 years i've had it. Not cheap. But just works. Also integrates with PS3 as it's a media server. I should really use it more! |

Sonos sounds top but over the top and costly for basic bedrooms. Rest of the house I alreayd have Roku Soundbridge in living room and kitchen but these need amplified speakers.
Might have to go down route I think of either revo or another roku ,loose the dab and get powered speakers, just case of finding somehwere where they dont cost arm and a leg

great sound from r2 and r4 (not got an r1) - might not have all the functionality you're after though - but worth EVERY penny imo |

The single unit, the S5 that has just come out is great, got one in my dining room and the sound is amazing. You can also plug in any 3.5 jack so you can plug in your ipod etc.
Blows the pants off anything I have had before in one unit like Bose, Apple etc. Marcus Quote:

hmm all a bit tempting to blow the budget, I think it might be case of going for a cheaper plan B. set of active speakers and a roku soundbridge at least the house will be the same and not worry about dab.
Now where to source a set of speakers
