HELP: Non MF steering wheel to M tech MF steering wheel install

Hey everyone,
I recently bought a BMW 320D from 2005 and I love it, the only thing that bothers me is the standard steering wheel. After reading here I descided to go for a M tech steering wheel with MF buttons. Yesterday I tried to install it using the DIY guide from the forum and came across a problem.

The steering wheel connector for the airbag and horn doesn't fit into the one from the car. There is a small grey edge that prevents it from sliding into the slot. (See pic ) Can I just cut the edge off or do I need another connector?

Thank you all very much in advance.

Hi,

I am doing the same thing...
From Non-Sport Steering (w/o MF) TO M3 Steering with Paddles and MF.
I have installed the steering already but MF and paddles dont work yet.

Were you able to make your MF work?
Maybe we can share to each other updates on how to make this retrofit work.

for the Mf , you will need the steering wheel contact, and coding (depending on the year of prod, the contact may not be needed )

For the paddle shift, this is an option i dont think will work unless you add some kind of addaptions software / non oe module to intergrate the shift functions over the steptronic to the paddleshifts (it was like this on the E46)

although i must admit, with regard to the paddle problem, im not too sure

File the gray edge down with a nail file or something. That's what i did to mine after it fit great. Good luck
