BMW Accident :(

This Tuesday my car was hit. ( NOT my fault)
What do guys think. Pretty costly repair?

It was a pretty dramatic accident. The other driver decided to go while I was passing the Intersection. The guy that hit me , called for backup, and he left and someone else stayed and was blaming me for hitting him.
I do have Insurance(full coverage) and so does the other driver.
The police officer tracked down the "original driver".

Buff right out bro, nah but srsly shit sucks man. Did you not have insurance? or did they not? Was it a hit and run? You really should only be on the hook for your deductible unless you were running around w/ just liability.

front driver side fender, driver side front door panel, driver side rear door panel, rocker panel. Probably close. BMW tax though might be a bit more.

Atleast it just body damage. Not mechanical or structural. I would replace the damaged parts.

I just re-read OP's statement. Yeah you're right. You need to lawyer up and find out who this clown is. Unless there is a witness that says you ran a red light any vehicle accident re-creator would be able to tell by the damage that it was not your fault. The only way you could do that unless someone else straight up t-boned you or if you power slid into them lol

Sorry for not explaing myself right. The guy that hit me. Stoped and he called the cops. Cops took a while. While we waited, some friend of the guy that hit me pulls up. He then gets off, the original driver gets in his friends car and leaves. The friend stays as if he was driving the car. Afterwards police tells me both might get arrested.

Nice, well hopefully they had insurance if not you're gonna have to file a claim with yours or come out of pocket.

Yeah the quarter panels are costly because they run all the way from the back of the car to the windshield. A little over a year ago some old drunk lady backed into my car. For my driver side rear passenger door panel to be replaced/painted along with the glass and re-tinting came out to $1500.

Was the guy under the influence by any chance? Maybe thats why he left the scene and had someone else in his place?

Hopefully everything goes smooth.

I had a similar accident and it turned out to be not that much. Why?
Because the insurance companies tell the body shop to buy used body parts first, from junk yards, and if none are available or acceptable, then buy new.

I got a used door and the truth is that the door came in looking like new. The body shop insured that the door came in perfect conditions before accepting it.

You could always go back and try to collect some vom that still remains to have it tested for alcohol. :P Based on the story as presented so far, I'd bet it was a drunk thing.

I went to a shop a friend recommended and they told me the same thing. Insurance companies are cheapen out and want to put used parts.

I ended up throwing away all of the doors from my E90 parts car, no one wanted to buy them, not even for $50 each.
