I think it's two things^

1) not enough weight over the rear tires (bad weight distribution)

2) weighs a LOT compared to the Z06

There's quite a weight, rubber, aero, and weight distribution difference between the GT500 and the Z06. There's nothing surprising about the results in this test at all. HP is only part of the equation.

I just feel bad for the GT500 that it got thrown into this comparison. It's a bit ridiculous, but I think it just goes to show how fast the GT-R and Z06 are. The Shelby is not slow by any stretch of the imagination.

I think the mistake is in the person who expects the GT500 to keep up with those cars. There are plenty of factors outside the dyno which factor into how fast a car goes. And the Mustang has a lot of those other factors going against it here. You shouldn't expect it to keep up with those cars.

Don't make me post the VIR times. The GT500 gets around a track just fine.

You're preaching to choir on this one. I owned an '04 Cobra with 500+ whp, and my brother currently has an '11 GT500, so I've got some experience with supercharged Fords. My point is that they aren't that quick given the numbers. The best I've seen so far for a GT500 that was stock was 12.4, which isn't that impressive. Now when you change the pulley, or switch to a KB supercharger, or switch to an automatic trans then its a different story.
