K Sport brakes

Does anyone run these or have an opinion on them? I have the K Sport lowering kit and I like it so I was debating on getting the brakes.

K sport is crap. Don't skimp on brakes. I have the Racing Brake BBK on my RX-8 and love it. I plan on getting it for my 335i.

If that set up is 380mm front with 356mm rear it would be hard to overwhelm them with aggressive pads and good brake fluid. I would most definitely run them on track even in stock form.

I came from EVO community, there is a team in Europe runs K-sport brakes on their EVO X. They have to replace everything(calipers, lines, etc.) every TWO seasons, there is nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't take as much beat as other big brands.

Two seasons is not that bad on race cars running professionally. For the money they are a good value. Money better spent than overhauling the stock brakes. That is my opinion.

Calipers and lines should never need to be replaced even under harshest environment. A simple rebuild with fresh seals and good cleanup in ultrasonic bath is what is done most of the time. Unless those Evo are doing a dozen or so endurance races, there is something wrong with the materials they use for sure.

Spend a few hundreds more for a set of stop tech or just get a set of OEM f series calipers instead.

Fuer is one of the first here retrofit F30 brakes on E90.

The stock brembo brakes lasted almost 4 seasons on their 509whp EVO X. Then they bump the power to about 640whp, and they decided give K-sport a shot(sponsor). The performance is alot better with K-sport, since they use 6 pistion front with 380mm rotor and 4 piston rear with 355mm rotor.

I don't know if its the caliper design or material K-sport use. The team changes brake in every 2 time attack season, because the brake experience quite big performance fade. I can't find the link to the thread, it might be archived since this happened in 13 or 14. It was quite good read.

PS: After reading that, I think K-sport is a decent brand, its just I wouldn't use it for track duty, weekend worriers maybe not for competition racing.

True, I agree with you. Calipers should last a life time especially these that have inverted seals.
However, I'm assuming they saw few rebuilds before the race team completely replaces the whole units after two years of service.
Probably more precaution than anything else or we have been misinformed.
10y ago Richard from Autobarn, local to you in Evanston,IL, who use to race with VW GTI's decided to build dozen Caymans and create national series club racing. Highspeed Welding from Westmont,IL build the cages and BTR then in Maywood, IL now in Evanston,IL was in charge for the initial engine, suspension and brake tuning.
Bart from BTR is also in charge for Mark's Green Lizard GT3 another race car local to us that I'm familiar with. When they do Daytona 24 is been driven by 4 different drivers and the brakes take a lot of abuse.
Per Bart from BTR he had to change the calipers once in 6y because they rarely go bad.
To reiterate, I agree with. Unless calipers are used in professional enduro car races there should not be a reason for the whole assembly to be replaced.

That is why I said that they represent good value for the money. Most of us here. like 99.9% do not participate in any professional races with our cars so these should last a life time. I have no doubt in that.
The F30 brakes are nice but not for everyone. People have issues with the idea of hacking their precious BMW's, like milling the caliper or boring out the mounting tab on the knuckle. So they will look for more straight out of box solution. K-Sport offers that.

Thanks for all the great information guys! After reading these comments I've decided to just go with rotors and pads. ECS has a kit with 4 rotor and all brake pads and new sensors. Is that a good kit?

You should check with AutohuazAZ, I got four Brembo Rotors and Bosch pads for $315.00 shipped.
