so what do I REALLY need for integrated bluetooth?
I have a '07 335i coupe. I didn't get the premium package because I thought BMW Assist was silly to get if all I wanted was bluetooth. Now the dealer is saying it will be about $2400 in parts alone to retrofit. I apparently do not have the prewiring for cellular (according to the dealer). What do I need to get integrated bluetooth? (I do NOT need voice command; that would be a nice plus.) Thanks!

AFAIK, all U.S. bound BMWs have phone prep.
That notwithstanding, you can go two routes. Install the BMW Assist TCU and get assist and Bluetooth, or install the Bluetooth module (ULF) which just supports - yes, you guessed it - Bluetooth. I would guess costs for the Bluetooth module would be under $1000 installed.

Not sure since most cars come with everything hooked up.
Ask your salesperson to verify that your car has phone prep (this refers to the cabling, nothing else) as BMW NA says all U.S. bound cars have this.

To verify if you have phone prep. or not you just have to take out the trunk floor mate and have a look what cables you have. If there is a black 2-pin plug and a white, wide plug with lots of pins (normally wraped in some black cloth) you have phone prep.
Nobody can give you an answer if you ask "I have a 2019 345i do I have phone prep? What do I need?"!!! If you have phone prep. you just have to add the MULF, the bt antenna, the eject box and the mic. Easy DIY in 2 hours. If you don't have phone prep you have to add the bt cable harness, which is a lot of work.

I think that the biggest problem that we have seen so far from people trying to retrofit was that the dealer was unable to program the MULF with english. By default it's in german... PLease, someone correct me if I am mistaken here...

sorry - I was referring to a complete oem retrofit. The parrot kit still uses an aftermarket type display right?
