High gloss trim replaced but...

It's got marks all over it and there are marks on my bodywork where a tool has been used to remove the old one!

Is this acceptable and should I just get over it?

I would be annoyed if it were me... can the marks be gently polished out?

I should add, dealer is trying to sort but surely this should not be an issue from the start!

That's what they are trying. And I though I'd be safe by telling them not to wash it!

Fucking lame.

According to the service advisor I was dealing with they have acknowledged the trim is "substantially" marked and that a new one would have to be ordered in and the "new" trim replaced. The paintwork will be rectified at the same time (I assume this means polished to death).

What is it with fucking dealers? I appreciate that they are trying to help but surely this kind of thing just shouldn't fucking happen. Who inspects cars when they go in for work (both on the way in and out)???

So now I have to make another trip to the dealer to get this sorted out?!

Was this work the warranty work that kicked off the 'Charge for loan car poll' thread?

If so what was wrong with the original trim?

Either way, warranty or not, I'd be *ucked off!

Its should be replaced and rectified FOC and they should offer 50% of your next service just for the bloody hassle.

Surely have someone check the cars after the work has been done??!?! bunch of retards!

Yes, indeed.

I was going to update that thread as the loaner was FOC.

The original trim had started to "bubble" which is weird as I didn't think it was painted but it looks like it is.

Warranty work arranged for today. The old trim was replaced and but it's scuffed in a few places. Also in removing the old trim they've scuffed my paintwork near the rear corner (where the trim curves round under the rear 3/4 window).

Not fucking impressed. Waiting on a call from the warranty manager which I am willing to bet will not come.

What is it with dealers? Do they just not care? Like I said earlier, who inspects a car after work is carried out and decides it's good to go? This is not the first time I've had an issue with quality of work at Sytner.

I wonder if BMW have guidelines about the training and SQEP 'ness' of the technicians employed at BMW franchises?

It appears many are not particularly well trained.

My horror stories at the local Renault dealer uncovered that the service Manager was not even a trained mechanic.

Which is why he had no idea how they didnt change the oil and filter I paid for, as he had no idea what a oil filter looked like.
And was prepared to argue about it even as it was draining out - black - after 20miles

You have to wonder...

I thought things had improved there, obviously not!
You still got the loaner?
I'd hang on to it if I were you.

What a ballache!

Ok so the warranty manager called me (credit where it's due). I told him what was going on and all he could say was "I'm very sorry".

There's zero sense that they're going out of their way to sort this out nor are they offering anything to me in terms of appeasement.

Fucking joke.

Ok so I just asked them if I could drop the car off to be left with them until the situation is resolved in return for a loaner.

Nope, no can do.

Ok so what are they going to do to compensate me for my inconvenience...

"Nothing we can do."

Sorry to hear this, but not entirely surprised.

If the new trim that they are replacing is not too bad i'll buy it off you, put a little cash in you pocket.

It's pretty scuffed, it's kind of tricky to get pictures of but I will try.

For a "new" trim, I'd say it's unacceptable.

EDIT:

Are you extracting the urine as usual?

Nope.

Mind you they will probably snap it when they remove it anyway.

sorry about your news but on the bright side they look like they like scratches that could be compounding out, if not they would deffo come out with a light 1500 grit sand then abit of 3000 grit and a polish after

I'd ask the warranty manager what he thinks, although if he'd already seen it and passed it prior to you seeing it, send him to Specsavers.

It looks diabolical, was it a YTS trainee they let loose on your car, or a random walkby with a screwdriver in his pocket?
