On street parking - Tow bar damage

Evening all,

I have recently had a bit of an issue with (it turns out my neighbour)

I got back to the car and saw another car with tow bar, (pic of which in my 335i stock exhaust for sale thread)

So i took the pic, and low and behold when I return i could see a very light, but visible non the less, imprint of a tow bar on my rear bumper.

As we park in residents bays, I wrote a polite letter explaining I was unhappy with this and left it on her car.
She came to my flat and denied even parking next to me!
She was irate so I did not continue the convo, and now today I have a letter implying that I have forged the pictures and it is a scam, and she would like to pursue with her accident investigation team from insurance co, if I want to take this any further.

So do I take it on the chin, or prove a point to this mad cow, and pursue further action, if so what?

I never even asked for money or a claim, I was mainly interested in an apology and I would have moved on, but her attitude is just begging for me to react.
(Please no midnight baseball bat suggestions)

It's a tricky one, if all you wanted was the apology then at least you have made your point and she should be more careful (even if it's only around your car) in future. If she doesn't cave early on then taking it further will no doubt cause a lot of aggro probably ending in the insurance trying to give you part responsibility. I'd say it depends on how committed you feel to making your point. For me I'd probably get angry for a while but ultimately I'd leave it there but not before I made it clear to her that she is being irrational.

Failing that ...Go round at midnight and baseball bat the bitch!!!

I'd floss both her holes with a wire brush.
You have photographic evidence of her parking like a mong and the resultant damage, right? And she comes round and gives you shit? Give the bitch her dues she's bigger brass balls than a lot of blokes I know.

I would go to her flat and let her know that all you were looking for was an apology but in light of the letter you've received and as a direct result of her attitude you accept her challenge, may the best man win.

The baseball bat the bitch.

Seriously though, ....log a claim with your insurance company...they will pursue her and with that pic you will win.

I agree with Sheps, though I feel his response is light.

Strap it up and get ready to slap it up. Tampered my bollocks. Fuck that bitch, make her wish she wasnt a crackpot hoe.

sheps and Matt are bang on the money.

Do you have any other photos actually showing the tow-bar's point of contact with your bumper? The one above is obscured.

No the issue is, she was parked close, but no contact, it was not until she had moved her car, and in doing so making contact that a mark was left.

And as I cleaned the car and spent some time polishing the worse of it out, I am wondering if my lack of actual damage would diminish my case.

Personally I'd like to establish whether she's a looker first before going psychopathic on her, if she's butt ugly than a good brushing would seem appropriate and justified.

Ah I see.

Hrm. You need some elaborate contraption that you can attach to the pack of the car that is covered in non-drying paint or something. The next time she parks up and nudges your bumper the paint will transfer to her tow-bar and you could use that as evidence and present it to her.

"If you didn't touch the car, how the did the paint get onto your tow-bar?"

If she's a looker? The PistonHeads favourite of VBRJ?

The photos proove nothing, she could just say you reversed up to her (I'm assuming you're not parked up facing a wall).

Very very annoying. No way of proving anything; you know that, she knows that. I'd just pop round and say your only intention of leaving the message was to politely ask her to be more careful in the future. Even though there's no evidence, you also both know, it's freaking obvious it was her. If she kicks off still see previous posts .

With no way of proving it there's not really much point in trying to take it any further. It will just inflame a situation and will still result in you getting nothing from it. It's shame, but it's just life
