how long to wait 4 dealer 2 get parts
Hi
Here my problem the dealer damaged the dash on my z4 while removing the radio and didn't bother to mention it. When i called them on after much arguing and demanding I got them to agree to replace the damaged parts . but 3 weeks later I'm still waiting for them to come in. I think the dealer is just putting me off in attempt to screw me. Am I being paranoid or is 3 weeks to long to wait for parts on a car thats stili in production. If anyone interested in the whole story heres a link http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthre...36199&posted=1 thanks Joe P. |

prob trying to get you to forget or say screw it. Dealer damaged my headlight washer jet cover...it was hanging off. I called right away then brought it over the next day. they looked at it had to order it and fedexed it to me over night since i was in another state.
All in all it took like 4 days for them to order it to them paint it then fedex it to me and i got an apology email from the service manager. |

I have a friend who has a brand new (2 week) 535GT which stopped working and went into limp mode. He has been told a month for parts. My 2011 328xi needed a new oil pan. They found me the only one in the US.
BMW doesn't seem to be doing much stocking of parts these days.

Trying to order one through another dealer parts department is a good idea. But something like that might have to come from Germany, as someone else mentioned, other than routine parts stocks in the US seem pretty minimal.

have you tried asking them for an explanation. Maybe a tracking number to find out how soon the order will get there? If not just walk in to any other dealer's parts department and ask them how long it will take for that same part to arrive.

the manager is inposible to get in touch with they shield him like he was the pope. the assistant manager is nasty which makes me nasty which is not productive. I'm going to a different dealer monday to find out how long the parts will take. I was hoping that I would get some feedback from others on how long the wait times from bmw are. I guess i am having troble wrapping my mind around a 3+ week wait for parts to fix what I should never had seen to begin with |

No way dude they're screwing with you. I've had many unique parts ordered for my car and they all came in 1-2 business days. It's time to escalate this.
edit: I see other people mention that it might take longer if it came from Germany. I had a seat assembly come in from Germany in 4 days. The wrong one came and they ordered another within another 4 days. |

I'm in canada and everything ive ordered comes in 1-2 business days. Max is 3 days so far.
I ordered an emblem that only exists in China and it took them 3 days to get and they also called me and gave me a fedex tracking number once it was on its way. Larger items would take longer though I'm assuming I read a thread somewhere where someone blew out their 335 engine and it took 2 months to get from Germany....thats a motor though... |

thanks for the info these are the 2 vinyl dash pads on either side of the radio. I cant belive it could take this long if they were damaged in a crash who long would the car be in the shop to fix.
