Brex/Hyperwhite Light/Bulbs
Hey everyone, I'm really confused when it comes to this lighting stuff, and everytime I try to read up on this, I just get more confused. I have an 06 325i w/ Xenons (and adaptive). I'm seeing all these threads that everyones installing Brex white rings or Hyperwhite rings and OSRAM 6000K HID lights. Now what I'm confused about, to get the white-ish/blue-ish color for the angel eyes, would I need the Brex/Hyperwhite bulbs(?) or would the OSRAM 6000K HID lights do the job? Or am I confusing the two, are the Brex/Hyperwhite just for the angel eyes and the OSRAM 6000K are for the actual lights? If i wanted the to change my angel eyes to the blue-ish/white-ish color what would I need and how much would it cost?

Brex White Ring and PMB (Poor Man's Brex) are for the angel eyes
The osram 6000K HID bulbs are for the headlights. Danny

You might want to check Nokyas arctic whites for your fog lights as well (to go with your main lights and angel eyes...just throwing it out there

How expensive are the Brex's compared to the PMB(Hyperwhite I'm guessing?)? Do you think it would be expensive to get installed? Where can I purchase the Brex's or the PMB?
Thanks!

Try searching first, anymore questions after that, post 'em. The Brex is around $200 without getting it here from Japan. So far, that's the only way to buy the Brex is directly from Japan.

Here is the quick history to catch you up to speed and how this whole Brex/Poor Man's Brex thing all started:
1)When Yujini posted pics of his beautiful white e90 in Korea with the Brex white rings, a lot of people on this board (including me) went . See this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12109 and a few follow up threads http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15285 (my fave) http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15377 There is a very good reason his car is currently the e90post car of the month 2)As stated, a lot of people wanted to get the same very captivating Brex white rings look for themselves, and thus a group buy thread was started because they could only be bought in Japan and they were like $200+ for a set. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15821 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15586 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16082 I don't think it went through b/c payment and other pertinent details weren't fully hammered out before..... 3)e90post's very own Longtran ingeniously came up with a way to replicate a "Brex" like effect.... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16192 infact, he came up with many colors like yellow, blue, white, and hyperwhite. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16266 and now he sells them and he calls them PMB (Poor Man's Brex) http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16278 With that said, here are the answers to you questions: For the angel eyes: Brex comes only in white, they are ordered from Japan and they cost $200+ The alternative to buying the Brex kit is to buy Longtran's PMB's. It seems the colors he has sold so far are White and Hyperwhite, colors he developed himself for his PMB's Since you have the xenon lights, you can choose either of the above two options as you see fit to customize the color of your angel eyes. The above does not apply to those without angel eyes (do not have the xenon HID headlamps) OSRAM 6000K HID: These are the HID bulbs used in you xenon headlamps. The bulb type is D1S and the color temp is 6000K. Osram is the manufacturer, and they are one of the best and most trusted for HID bulbs. The reason people are buying them is because the color matches better with white angel eye rings. The stock HID bulbs are a 4200K temperature color. You can do the rings and the HID bulbs separately, they are not by necessity linked together. |

Wow thanks for the great follow up really cleared up some stuff, I found the PMB FS thread and it helped me through, I think I'm going to be getting the hyperwhite ones soon enough, just waiting for my car to come back from the dealership. Once again thanks for the great help!

Okay I hate to ressurect threads, but I'm back at confusion again lol...
I installed my PMB (hyperwhite) on tuesday, and it looks SEXY. Now I'm looking to see if I can match the fog lights and head lights with the PMB. I noticed the OSRAMM D1s are about $200, which is pretty expensive. I saw PIAAs going for $60, is there any huge difference between the two? (For headlights) and for foglights would it be worth it to go with the Nokyas or the PIAA? Thank you everyone for the help!

I have PMBs already, I installed my Hyperwhite ones, they're just not as bright as I wish it would be, but for now its fine. My main concern is whether I should go with PIAA or OSRAM D1 6100K bulbs? The OSRAM D1's go for like ~$200. Is there anything special about them or would I be fine with the PIAA?

looking into the headlight, the yellow bulbs light still visible although the rings are white... turn out below my expectation, now getting the brex kit and burn my USD30 bucks...
