Lightbulb jb4,dp,cp,dci

im taking my car in for the rattle noise i belive its the wastegate, should i take all my aftermaket parts out for the inspection or take it just in. its not my fault the wastegate wasn't built right the first time so anything that i installed shouldn't be a factor but anyhow shoul i get it to stock?the noise is the same as in this video--does it qualify

Go around to different dealers, there are some dealers that are mod friendly. The problem I see here is that I've seen past threads where people with downpipes just pay an Indy to replace their turbos because uninstalling and installing the downpipes would cost a lot.

You can probably get away with leaving it. From what I know, they can only deny you warranty work if they can prove a mod was the cause of the part's failure.

It could be the actuator rod on the front wastegate. Just pop the hood and start your car. You can see it and hear the rod rattling due to it being loose.

i heard when they check for waste gate rattle (from my bmw tech) that they take the car out for a test drive, and start it up on cold start, and usually dont scan for codes. i could be wrong though. if your cool with your service advisor then leave them in, if not then start kissing there ass and buy them some wings or donuts next time you go in. LOL Good luck

it is true though that they can only deny a warranty claim if they can prove that your mods caused the issue. However, I'm sure they'll make note of any mods on there and I'd hate to see something come up in the future that they get a "get out of jail free" card for.

Put it back to stock as much as possible and you're best off. The JB4 I would probably just leave in.

if you leave the downpipes in they might not want to work on the car because of the aftermarket part you have connected to what is giving you the problem in the first place. so if i were you i would play it safe and remove EVERYTHING.

just saying.

people on here get away with taking their cars in all modded but then again people on here get service denied for taking their car in all modded.

it's your call really.

+1 its the luck of the draw unless its a part that needs BMWUSA approval to service, then you are screwed.

Two thing kept me out of DP's, warranty issues & yearly state emissions inspection. That being said I dynoed 375/414 on a Dynojet which it pretty good for a street car with occasional trips to the strip or track running a JB4-G5/ISO & a 5" FMIC.

Truth is if I was looking for a strip or track car I would not have bought a BMW.
