Getting a new exhaust
So I'm driving down the highway yesterday and catch stop and go traffic. I stop and the guy behind me decides to try and take his chevy work van through my back seat. They are totaling his van, but they are contemplating fixing mine b/c the surface repairs don't look too bad. In the impact, he managed to break the exhaust system free of its harnesses, buckell the pipe and run it into the rear differential. If they fix the car, I am getting a new exhaust from the manifold back. What is the general concensus here on the best aftermarket/replacement exhaust system for an 2007 e90 328xi?

Get a LSD diff too. If half axles and what not are toast, get the M3 clutch pack setup.

I was debating between that or a Hamann setup, but I wasn't sure if there was a preferred better option out there...
I was at a dead stop and he was slamming on his brakes from over 80mph, he nose dived and hit it low. my bumper took out his grill and destroyed his front end(his is a total loss), and his bumper did a lot of damage underneath my car. I had a concussion and whiplash but will come out ok, I did some preliminary inspections with my local dealer today. The car did well on the outside, but b/c most of the force missed the bumper, everything else spread the force of the impact. The major concern is that the differential is damaged and leaking, and there is a significant vibration. |

First off glad to hear you came out of it alright. Very surprised to see your trunk vs his hood, but obviously all the damage is down low like you said. I can't believe they're not going to total the car with your described damage, sounds pricey to fix.
That said, CSL style trunk (LCI or not) and BMW performance exhaust would be be nice. If you have the option get an LSD rather than open, I imagine they'll be close in cost. |

Finally got the estimates today...
$4900 in rear end body work $4300 in drivetrain damage plus a rental, that is what a $10k hit looks like :/ |

Glad that you are okay!
I see these in the list of repairs, -CSL trunk with LCI taillights conversion -BMW Performance rear bumper -PE w/ 2nd cats delete and wow, $4900 in rear end body work? It doesn't seem that bad from the picture.. |

I'd also say the BMW performance exhaust in your case. I love my AA, but that's basically just a muffler delete.

They are counting the bumper, deck lid, tail lights, exhaust, bent rear quarters needing to be straightened, bumper supports replaced and paint in the body work total. Came out to $4,852
