Cool A Manual transmission curiosity

I apologize for being redundant in this forum but I am looking for a SOLID/concrete answer.
Folks, can someone help me please (especially those who have access to jackpoint hoists)? I appreciate your help.

1.Put the car in gear (1,2 or doesn't matter)
2.Put your car on the hoist and jack it up using the jackpoints (not via the wheels).
3.Move both your rear wheels backward and forward by hands.

Can you hear “clacking noises” from the manual transmission area?
Is this normal?
*****No, the noise doesn't come from the differential.*****

Thank you for your help in advance.

Never tried that as the e-brake is always on when I jack up the car. I will have to try this the next time.

Question

No e-brake needed as you are using the jackpoints to lift the car.

I would say it's normal as the engine is off thus no tranny fluid is being moved through the tranny and what you're hearing is metal on metal. I wouldn't worry about it.

My driveway has a slight slope to it which is why the e-brake is on.

Try covering your ears with your hands or putting on ear muffs.

Question

Has it been proven mechanically beneficial to my car?
Anybody else have a better suggestion?
