I have never had a bent rim with any BBS or Enki wheel Detroit and Portland, ME Roads and always run a 30/35 sidewall.
16yrs of driving around 20/25k miles a year. No brainwash I'm talking about my experience. |

I'm pretty sure BMW, Ferrari, Porsche have a reason they use them as OEM equipment and lexus ISF went to BBS for OEM

Had the first rim repaired and put it on Friday. Drove it and I still had vibrations so the Union rim repair guy told me to bring them in and he'll check all of them for me.
Looks like three more of them are bent. One only slightly, another just as bad as the first one in the video and the last one less than the one in the video. Not even sure what to do now since these seem like they all bend really easy. After a week of driving not sure if they are all defective like the other one or just the quality of the Alufelgen wheels. I might have been unlucky and got a bad batch or something. I will post up the video when I get a chance. Last edited by Zero_09; 06-17-2013 at 09:03 AM.. |

You actually lumped American Racing with BBS and Enkei? You're correct that BBS and Enkei are OEM manufacturers; but American Racing makes most of their wheels in China and is OEM to no one. It's going to be the same quality as most reps.
FWIW, tires do have to meet certain standards. So buying anything less than Pirelli, Bridgestone, or Michelin doesn't get you substandard sidewalls. I've run almost every tire including your big 3 all the way down in price to Nankang. In my experience, high end tires do tend to ride better and more quietly. But other than that, they're no more durable for me. The two brands that I had the shortest were Bridgestone (OEM on my Lexus) and Pirelli. Both were taken out by potholes. Considering I drive the same roads all the time and none of the other tires I had were damaged as quickly, should I run the same line of thought as you and say Bridgestone and Pirelli are substandard? Also, if you look closely, a lot of high end companies also make low end brands. ie, Bridgestone makes Fuzion and Continental makes General. So you can't simply judge on a pricepoint. |

Do most of you drive on bent wheels? I certainly felt the vibration when driving on bent wheels. I guess some people notice and some don't,
Anyways here's the other rim that's bent. I took this video this morning when my rim repair guy spun all four wheels for me. I only took a video of one though. It's weird because when I had the wheels of the car. I was trying to see if there was a bend but I couldn't see it. Once we put it on the machine and we found that it was also bent. Well I'm not sure what happened but Alufelgen has slowed way down With their response. Doesn't seem like they actually want to replace the wheel and just replied just to make it seem like they want to replace it.

Just an update. I sent payment for shipping about 11 days ago on June 28th and still haven't received anything yet. Very hard company to deal with and customer service is non-existent.

I feel for you man, sane shit happened to me with my concept 1 and they will not do shit about it. Feel a vibration in the steering, unstable feeling and it just sucks. I never hit a dann thing either. I went and ordered some MORR rims...great guys to deal with!

Most aftermarket companies have horrible customer service to begin with, also been running my Alufelgen's for 2 years and have hit some massive pot holes. So far no bends or cracks, and yes OEM or wheel companies who rape their customers with crazy prices(BBS) will bend. I'm not saying go throw some junk on your car, but come on with the 3500 dollar wheels. Of course you are going to chime in about how great your 3500 dollar wheels are; probably just to make you feel happy inside about how special you are.

Zero - happens with most companies in the industry, I've seen it first hand so many times. Take your money quickly up front and provide no customer service down the road. All you can do is be vocal on the forums and dissuade people from taking their business to them.

You hit anything hard enough it will bend, bbs will not be screwed up from the factory (barrel, note, bore ect.

All wheels can bend... I've bent Borbet, BBS, etc... two of my 230s (BBS) were bent when I had them refurbed for PO-induced curb marks. Also had to have two 157s straightened when I bought them used for my winter set. (I forget who made those - Cromodora maybe?)
Yes some are better than others, but drive on shit enough roads, they'll bend eventually. Not in any way arguing that higher quality wheels (unless they're stupid light racing wheels) won't be more resistant to bending from day to day driving. |

I got them "very" cheap and like the style of the MORR over the other.
