I would still do BOTH wishbones and tension struts, and then drill out the pin and add more. The M3 still understeers - read every car magazine you want every one says it... you need more camber than the M3 wishbones in my opinion. The M3 arms and tighter bushings has really made a positive difference on my steering. I love it - just do this.

I have an e92 with sports package and was wondering if anyone has tried switching the springs for the m3 stock ones... Is there much gain, and do you need to change the shocks too?
I am looking to stiffen the suspension, but not really worried about lowering so much. Thanks |

Get matched set of dampers & springs. BMW Performance are cheap and keeps warranty. AST 4100 w/ Swift springs are great and would be my choice. If you get stiffer springs & dampers, the M3 bits (control arms/bushings) are even more important than if you stay OEM.

Also, e92 Coupe w/ sports
would it be a bad idea to swap out all suspension components to M3 and stay with stock springs/dampers? |

I don't think so. With the m3 components, you're not really changing geometry that much, you're allowing the springs and shocks to control suspension movement rather than flex from stock components. There is a slight change in geometry but not something the stock ZSP cam handle.

No, it's not a bad idea. The M3 components replaces lots of rubber bushings with bearings allowing less deflection during acceleration, deceleration and cornering loads. Less deflection means better geometry. The M3 components bearings also take away any bushing bind associated with rubber bushings, allowing your suspension to go though its full travel without adding any artificial spring rates. The end result is better road feedback, more consistent alignment settings, a more compliant ride, quicker steering response and so on.

I've got a 2010 E92 with Sport suspension and wish to retain the stock ride quality, but add a bit of improvement with regard to body roll and flex while lowering the front slightly to reduce the fender gap and give a more raked look.
With the mindset of making minimal changes that yield the most improvement [on the street], is it fair to keep my changes with just the springs, dampers and sway bars? I'm considering the Koni FSD + Eibach Pro-Kit combination while replacing the front and rear sway bars with M3 components, including end links. My car is already fitted with the 225M 19" wheels and optional Pirelli P-Zero RFTs--I'm quite happy with this combo on the street. |

HP- I'm new to the forum (by join date) but what do you mean by geometry and deflection in regards to acceleration, deceleration and cornering?
Also, I am looking to get a similar ride height and feel as Imperator. I dont know if this is the wrong thread to post this but, considering the outcome I'm looking for would it be suggested to replace OEM suspension with that of an M3 or do a Dinan S1? Sorry for the newby questions |

M3 and S1 is not the same, M3 parts are just suspension control arms and anti roll bars where the S1 is dampers, springs and anti roll bars if any(I am not familiar with Dinan)I suggest you read through some quality threads here on suspension then make your decision. Perhaps get some feedback on forum members who have had both, just for comaprison. |

If anyone's interested in OEM E90 M3 springs, I've got a set in excellent cond. As many have said here, they may not be a direct transfer, and the heavy V8 in the M3 will definitely lead to springs much stiffer than needed for our cars, but if anyone wants to experiment, shoot me a pm

So my question to HP is:
Does my 2008 135i w/KW V1's and Hotchkis front sway need anything different to upgrade versus the E92 with similar setup? As in extra parts, less parts? I would like to install the majority of the parts in the kit myself (minus rear bushings) and am reasonably mechanically inclined. Are there any specialty tools one might need (aside from ass't drivers, rubber mallets, etc...)? Thanks in advance! |

I see many people did this in conjunction with the BMW PE suspension, are the V1's comparable? IIRC both use the same upper shock mounts. Also I plan on getting some Apex Arc-8 (we PM'd about this about 3 weeks ago) and in order to run the wheels sizes I want I it was determined I would need camber plates. With this kit would I still need to install the camber plates to run those wheels?

I've read several threads but did not find this info: is the M3 rear sway bar mountable using the OEM links on compatible E9x ? Not sure if it matters, I have E92 so it's the OEM sport suspension.
I also understand it's a good idea to replace the rear frame bushings to something like M3 bushings. Q: I assume these cannot be installed used, or ? (assuming these can even be dislodged in 1 piece) Last q: Will I need wheel alignment after installing the M3 FSB, RSB & rear bushings ? |
