My BOSS is on my case....
So my boss has been jealous from the day one since I got my BMW E90, he drives an Accord. And he justifies by saying that he has 2 kids in college that he is paying for and that I don’t have any kids that’s why I was able to afford a BMW… And since then he’s been looking to point out flaws (if there are any) in my car to make himself feel better. Lately he’s been stuck on the thing that my rear seats don’t fold down. Every opportunity he gets to point that out he does, and makes it a point that his Accord’s seats folds down and has easy access to the trunk. (I guess that’s the only flaw he could see in my car)
How the heck can I shut him up for good about my back seats not being able to fold down without having my next raise affected? I don’t want to put him down but at the same time I want him to get it over with the rear seat not folding down thing… He is a nice guy though, and I know he is joking around, but still.... Any suggestions?

Which I have been doing for a year now... but he's still stuck on the seats after a year.

just tell him that if you ever decided to kill him and hide the body way out in the woods you were going to chop him up in a bunch of pieces anyway thus making the folding rear seats redundant

Just explain to him nicely and mention once you get married with kids you would be in the same boat as he was. At the moment you don't have the burden that might last a few years for you to enjoy all these toys.

Just shake your head and tell him, 'i'm glad for you!' and move forward. That's so sad you're bothered by someone like him. I have the same problem who rants about how much of a deal he got on this new Altima and that he bought the top-of-the-line radar detector (Escort Passport 8500 X50 - blue; I have a V1). Also like to brags how he gets like 24-26mpg, saying it's better than my E90 (I get realistically, 26-30mpg). I just tell him 'that's cool, I'm glad for you'.... and let it be.

Honestly, he's being a douche for making snide jokes that are only funny to him for over a year, and you're being kind of a douche for actually letting it get to you. Just let it go...

Did you buy your car new or pre-owned?
If pre-owned tell him there are many cars that don't carry the "luxury" stigma that cost more than your E90....ie see Honda Pilot.

Dude, your rear seats don't fold down? Sell that car and get an Accord with fold down rear seats NOW. Ignore him.

You could ask him when was the last time he ever used the feature. My guess is, if he answers honestly, he has rarely, if ever used it.

tell him that it is interesting he feels that way, since when you were plowing his wife in the backseat she remarked that the seats in your 3er are soooo much more comfortable than the seats in this other guys's honda that she used to plow

It's not him. It's you.
I had two BMWs and at the time, a Z4 3.0i and a 545i, and a 350Z at my last job. My boss drives a beat up Civic. First time he saw my car he commented on how he can probably drive something better too if he didn't have 3 kids. And I agree, I told him my wife and I wanted to take advantage of our DINK lifestyle for a little while. Outside of that, I never talk about my car, what I own, why I drive what I drive. I never "flaunt" to him that my car is better than his. In fact I always compliment him on his lifestyle choice and how we want to start a family on our own too. He NEVER once criticized or mentioned about what I drive after the first day. I bet your boss only give you crap, because you're probably always talking about how nice your BMW is and how it's the bombz and teh sh*ts and gets you a ton of @ss. Otherwise, I've ALWAYS had better cars than my bosses until this current job, and no one has ever said anything negative to me about it. |

Tell him to stop spoiling his kids and make them pay for their own college. Remind him they can't live off hind tit forever. Then he can buy an M3 and show you how big his crank really is.
or Just let him drive it to lunch one day and tell him its really not all that expensive of a car on the used market, he could probably get one just like yours with fold down seats cheap. Show him ads EVERYDAY until he shuts up about it. KILL him with kindness, its the best way to get rid of someone in a position of authority over you without having to lick their nuts all the time.
