'09 E90 Pricing

Will be ordering an '09 328i (x-Drive) end of December to replace my wife's '07 328xi which will be coming off lease in March. With the economy and car sales (including BMW down 21% or so) what kind of deal should I realistically shoot for on a new car? I want to get it at invoice, but realistically how close to invoice can I get? Simply put, there are 3 dealers very close to where I live and I'll buy from whichever dealer gives me the best price or incentives. Appreciate your experience or input.

There is a 2008 BMW pricing sheet floating somewhere around here if you search. I think this is it: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...icing+sheet%22

As you see, it shows the REAL invoice price (i.e. what the dealer actually pays) not the BS invoice that still builds in plenty of profit for the dealer. This will be a good resource for you.

Thanks - is this spreadsheet different from numbers available on Edmunds? I find that their invoices are accurate. I also will want an '09 and want to know how close to invoice buyers are currently getting. Leases are probably not as competitive as they were when we leased our '07 - I got a $44,500 car for $500/month w/$1500 cap cost red'n. Residual is high, which is why we're not buying out the car.

I put the two side by side and tried to correct a bit for the fact that Edmunds has 2009 prices and the pricing sheet reflects 2008 prices. It's not that far off- I'd estimate Edmunds is still $500-1000 higher.

As for what people are paying, it's anywhere from $3000-4000 under the MSRP, at least for the 335's before sales took a total dive. Now, I have to imagine dealers are hurting so bad, you could offer a price patently ridiculous and the dealer will try to meet you halfway.

BTW, Why not try to take an unsold '08 328 off the dealer's hands? They'll definitely do whatever they can to get them off the lot.

So you think the dealer should make NO money? People do this for cars but not TVs. You know how much Best Buy makes on a $1000 TV? More than I bet you're willing to let a dealer make on a $40,000 car.

You could easily get $1K over dealer invoice pricing in our area before the economic mess began. Possibly a little bit more now.

Also, suggest you send PM to member ALPINE6SPD. He is not too far away from your location and is a BMW sales associate.

Remember to negotiate from invoice up, not MSRP down. If you know exactly what configuration you want to order and how much you want to pay, it should be a relatively hassle-free experience.

If you want to save a bit more, treat her to a Euro Delivery

I agree, but unlikely I'd find the car in the colors/options I'd want. I don't want to settle - I'm really particular. Also not sure I can get out of the lease this early - not up for around 4 months.

So you don't mind giving certain people more of your money then you have to?

Bottom line is if the dealer was loosing money on the car and getting no benefit from the sale he wouldn't be selling it to you. They have right to say "no" to an unfair deal.
