Coolant stick missing 2011 e92 normal???

My coolant light came on at 32k and when I opened up the cap I see it dry and the floater stick nowhere to be found. Is this normal or anyone experienced something like this?

I am going to BMW to buy coolant tomorrow but just trying to get some feedback here or did 2011 plus changed that model on dip stick?

Any advice would help, thx!

Very common. I line up the floating block with the plastic tab inside the expansion tank

my first expansion tank's floater snapped at around 60k. I replaced the tank and eventually replaced the radiator due to corrosion. I never really found the broken piece but I'm pretty sure it was either at the bottom of the tank or stuck in the rad somewhere. Never made it to my water pump or anything.
