Interesting. What would this mod require? A new turbo you ship to us? Replacing the wheel of our current turbo?

This is correct, you either send us yours and wait for it to be modified or we build you one and you pay the core charge and return your turbo when you get ours and we refund the core charge. We are getting closer. Wheels are still in production and machine work is moving forward. I will keep you guys posted.

Vargas,
Are you developing multiple trims for this or just a one size fits all? I am not complaining by any means, just wondering if there are plans for high horsepower applications in addition to a quicker-spooling application for those that need less ultimate power. My guess is that your application will aim to split the difference between these two camps. Whatever the case, kudos for being the only game in town at this point. The N55 community thanks you |

FWIW, I would rather a quick-spooling trim that yields 450whp or so as opposed to something slower that is in the 550whp realm. I really don't want to sacrifice the quick-spooling nature of this car.

That's what I figured. Most likely a middle of the road approach to get the big power guys aboard while not making the cars annoying to drive. Too bad the N55 aftermarket is so small. That will likely preclude development of multiple trims for upgraded turbos. Hell, the aftermarket has pretty much turned its back on this platform with the exception of Vargas.

The N55 spools quicker then the twin N54 does, we are using the stock twin scroll manifold and housing. This turbo will NOT have "heavy lag". Supposed to have compressor wheels this week. They have shipped. Turbine wheels are still 15-20 days out.

Compressor and turbine upgrades did great in the Evo community long ago. At that time you could bolt 20-30whp on 93 and 50+ on higher boost levels. This is going to be great, can't wait!

The N54 has very small twins and with both cars having a VERY similar power ratings from the factory. BMW was able to get to faster spool out of the single by sizing it very very small. Of course a bigger single is going to have slightly more lag, but it will be far from "lag heavy"

This is not just a compressor and turbine upgrade. This is an entirely new state of the art CHRA including dual Ball Bearings, etc. We had to have custom wheels made because the N55 is a reverse rotation turbo
