Nice driving Gewow. I am impressed.

Make sure you check that entry on 4. I know it's a good line. The line is fast (very late braking), it's a nice alternative... But I think it isn't the best way through, just a good alternative for a very unconventional (in race situation) pass attempt. If you take the middle entry (what I was doing) and depending on grip, you might get a better feel through 4 and 5.

This is good, BUT and a big BUT you will need to make sure you use ALL of those systems EACH time. If you circumvent just one of those, that's where you may be worse off!

Please share your findings with us, as you go along, I'm interested to know as well the proper way to do it.

George is doing quite good! That line is of course riskier, as it leaves less room for errors and in the wet, as CanAutM3 mentioned, scrap it!

An expensive sport as well with guaranteed drama every time you go out. You have fallen out of "like" with circuit/track driving?

The minute you go rally, you need 4wd, extra heavy duty suspension and cage and lots of extra parts cause you are going to go off road and break linkages, half/drive shafts, rollovers ...

Actually, I was making the joke that, in George's opinion, since nobody seems to like me, I need some support from people who are used to people not liking them, such as himself

But to answer your serious question: still like tracking and will keep doing it, but I had a crazy idea of getting another car for some amateur rally. Nothing like an STI or an Evo, as that would be simply far too much for a beginner, but something light, quick and (most importantly) possible to bounce around if it comes to that

The idea came to me after I was in Hokkaido, Japan, and there was a local amateur rally - and let's just say that although the Evos and the STIs were the first to pass, I saw a number of cars go by that made me realise that you actually CAN do this for fun and not have to spend gajillions of dollars.

Before I got into track I used to watch mostly rally from Europe . What did you see in the way of cars? I think 4wd/awd is a must along with rally safety gear.

Newly improved Tonybest techniques at Calabogie:

No brake, no lift just flat out at turn 1.
No brake, no lift just flat out at turn 16 aka 4left.

Exhilarating!

Plus improved "let the car rotate by itself" technique.

I really enjoyed my two days there. Friday was cut short (missed one session) because of the weather. Saturday was great. Made new acquaintances because they had shade to spare under their ezups. And I showed them a few new knots to master.

That sounds like fun. Looking forward to my Aug 9 day there, although it sucks that I won't have a camber kit by then.

Anybody feel like helping me swap brake pads though? Got my Carbotechs in.

Oufff. What a weekend. Was in tremblant. Raining for part of the day friday and focused on car control. Saturday was nice. Played around with pressures. Realized 38 hot seems to be the sweet spot. Got my fastest time on that day - 1:57.1 which is close to my inital 1:57 goal. Did not film it...oh well.

Sunday was also nice. A bit less grip but more power because colder overall. Very fun. Started playing around with my lap timer and set split points. So now i can start comparing sectors lap to lap. Hopefully with this I can bring it down under 1:57. Either way. Getting more comfortable with the car and track.

Noticed that 3 day events are much more productive when it comes to car control intricacies/car setup tweaks etc. Will try to do more of them if possible because of this. But, tired!!

By the end of day 2, my inside, rear, passenger side brake pad compound was gone, finished, kaput, dissapeared. Metal on metal... ouch!.. while all other 7 pads had between 45% and 55% material left.
