Lowering springs: installation cost

What is the average cost for installation of lowering springs? I talked with
two independent shops so far and one quoted me 650$ with alignment and the other quoted 695$ with alignment. Both shops said the job takes 4-5hrs for spring install only!! I posted a similar thread on M3forum and the general consensus is 200-300$ TOPS for lowering spring install and around 80-150$ for alignment..just wanted to also get a consensus here on E90 to make sure I don't get JACKED!!..also general consensus on M3forum is 15-30minutes max for the rears and 30min-1hr max for the front installs ( from experienced shop ). Thanks in advance!

What they said on M3foum sounds about right. $600+ is absolutely insane. Have you PMed Longtran?

Sounds a bit high. Get them to break out the alignment and see where the costs are. It's not a difficult job but it's not something you can do in 1 hour either. I'd say that a shop that knows the car should be about to do it in a couple hours so $200-$300 is more than fair.

Though there is some debate whether springs actually "settle", conventional wisdom is that you should probably wait a few days or week to have it aligned anyway.

my area would charge about $300 to install the springs and another 100 for the labor.

It is so easy to say "$300 max" but please list the place that will do a proper install for that price. Better yet, please give me the name of a reputable shop in the greater DC area that'll do a suspension install for anywhere close to that - local BMW shops are quoting in the $600-$700 range.

The prices I was quoted are from reputable shops. what's the definition of a proper install? taking 4-5 hrs to install lowering springs only ( not including shocks and struts )?.

Usually about 300-375 for the install and 100 or 120 for alignment.

Try Vince at Eurorev in Inglewood. I had my HR Sport springs and installation for $300.

Check them out at Eurorev.com

I agree. I just got a set of springs and went to Authority in Chantilly (850) with alignment, and IMA Motorsport next door to them (650.00) for install only no alignment. Rates vary I wish I could find a shop to do them for 300.00

The shops are off on the alignment. You can go to the dealer and they will charge 150.00

This looks like a pretty old thread but can anyone recommend a good shop in the dallas area to install some H&R springs? I?ve called a few places and am getting quotes like $1200 which is nuts.

Like others have said, in SoCal I wouldn?t pay more than 300 max. Even if they are charging 100 bucks an hour it shouldn?t take more than 3 hours to install for someone who knows what he?s doing
