Good shop in Tallahassee? parking rebar damage
Im a student from fsu. I parked at my upcoming fall-term apartment complex I signed a lease for to pay some fees. When I pulled my car out, the rebar from the parking cement block tore the right side of my bumper off. 2 tabs next to the headlight was broken and 3 tabs underneath the bumper. The rebar was sticking out a good 3 inches. Usually when these things occur who's at fault? I already spoke to my insurance and will get it fixed regardless so my main question is if anyone from Tallahassee has a good shop recommendation. I'm planning to try to pursue for a subrogation, what do you think my chances are? I hate to come to such bad terms with my future apt complex already but I feel like it's bs that they left the rebar like that.

Technically, if the apartment complex is owned by a scumbag, he may be able to claim you damaged the parking block and go after compensation.

My family owns a building where something similar happened ... someone was stepping over a parking stop and a piece of rebar was extending up several inches beyond the stop and tripped the person. The building insurance coverage paid for the medical bills of the person that fell.
If the rebar was sticking up excessively, that is a hazard and the responsibility of the property owner. I would assume that they would, at least, pay the deductible for you ... if not all of the damage. |

Never had any experience with them, but Roslund's was where all the guys on the Tallahassee Muscle Car forum recommended to go if you needed anything. Saw quite a few cars that had work done by them when I was at FSU for undergrad and it looked like they did a quality job.

Many thanks for all your replies! I will take my car there today. I'm definitely leaving space between when I'm parking in the future (although some parking lots are quite tight in Tallahassee) It's my own dumb fault for pulling in that close... just enough to catch the bumper. Hopefully the apartment complex will be willing to cover it.
Thanks again for your suggestion! |

This exact scenario just happened to my buddy with his Z06 in a hotel parking lot.
Filed insurance claim (Progressive) to get his bumper fixed, he was at fault for collision. The insurance company also called the hotel to make sure there was not damage to the parking block.

I went to FSU for undergrad and the 4 years I was there I got 5 dents, a broken mirror and someone reversed into my car on campus in a parking garage (paint job done at Roslund). I wish you the best of luck up there, people seriously dont give a sh*t!!

Little late to the party, but another recommendation to Roslund's. When I was up there I used them 3 times, all with great results. Little pricey but better than any other option.
