Water pump and thermostat job in the GTA?

Looks like my car might have to have the dreaded water pump job done soon. My check engine light has come on, and the rad fan is working at high speed most of the time. The good news is, the car isn't overheating, so maybe it's just the thermostat.

Has anyone had their water pump/thermostat replaced in the GTA lately?
My car is out of warranty, so dealer is likely not a viable option.

I think the dealer is your best option, they have a package that includes waterpump and thermostat for around $750-$800 parts and labour, this also includes 2 years warranty

I have heard great things about Ivo, RPM, and mine was done through Mike at Maranello for a great parts/labour deal.

Which dealer? or all of them? mine seems dreaded too! I have no engine light, no overheat but fan is blowing full speed all the time (well I did drive fast anyway, only local city street and found that loud sound coming from engine). I read the code and it is 2A2D fuel low pressure system & 2E82 electric cooling pump switch off

I had the exact same problem as you. No engine lights came on, just the fan started blowing crazy one morning.

I checked with my dealer and ended up getting the parts from them but doing it myself. It's not hard, just a pain to get one of the screws out since it's in an awkward placement.

That price mentioned above, is pretty much accurate but I don't think it includes labour...

With parts and labour you should be looking at $1,100 - $1,200.

Plus you'll get $50 back if you return your used waterpump.

Cheers.

I went to Mississauga at Dixie and eglinton, the price that I mentioned included parts and labour. Its actually cheaper to get the parts and labour from them than just buying the parts, I know, it doesn't make sense.

I just found out my coolant level is close to min, so I top it up to max and the fan is not on now. Will clear the code and test run it again tomorrow and see will that happen again.

Maranello BMW. Call parts department, talk to Mike. Ask for maxbimmer pricing for waterpump + labor.
The price used to be cheaper than any quotes mentioned in this topic.

Talked to mike today that the price is up a lot now. It is $711 for water pump & $250 for thermostat.

Also call Mississauga BMW today and didn't give phone quote at all!

Agreed! Best option for oem parts and work as the parts alone are more expensive if bought by independant shop and you will not get a 2 year warranty anywhere else.

It's a set price, my dealer told me that they can't even charge more labour if the work took longer compared to work order set by BMW.
