Folks:
After multiple stone chips on my way to wasaga beach this weekend, the windshield cracked where one of the chip was. Crack is about 2 inch long. Can this crack be repaired? I doubt it but have'nt had to get a windshield replaced since e30 ages ago lol Do you recommend factory BMW glass? If so which stealer or indy shop? So far Elite has quoted $800+tax and I am still waiting to hear back from Otto's. I read on the thread speedy is recommended over apple auto glass as well. Are they better than the stealer? I would think stealer is just outsourcing it to someone else? Thanks everyone for your help! |

A crack is not repairable.
The dealer would be using OEM glass. I would guess that Apple / Speedy are not using OEM glass. There may be a slight difference in quality, but you may not notice. |

Thanks! Speedy and Apple can get the OEM glass for extra $$.
Right now price is about the same with stealers, Speedy, and Apple. Any particular one you guys recommend? Or stay away from? |

Does anyone have PC7424XP with pads that they would be willing to rent out or loan out? I can put the deposit equivalent to the price of machine if that helps.
I want to try the machine before blowing up $350 on a package. Thanks. |

If you are thinking about buying it, you will not find better machine for money. I have one but I am not ready to rent it or give it as loan, sorry, but I can show it to you or demonstrate if that helps.

I've used General Auto Glass three times in the last eight years and highly recommend them. Two of those times they replaced the glass in the parking lot at my work. They replaced the windshield in my 328 in June. Same brand of glass (Pilkington) but without the BMW logo. I think the glass was around $400-500 and the rain sensor was another $200 from BMW.

I am out of town and I won't be back until after the Labour Day weekend so I can't scan/read your car.....sorry....
Do you have any modification/tune installed? Is the car mileage < 80,000 km ? Have you ever filled up less than 91 octane gasoline? If your answer is no to all of the questions above, 99% the cause of that engine light is a bad DMTL pump (very common on bimmers). Yes, it will cost you $129 to replace it from the dealers. I just had mine replaced in April 2012. |
