Most people here brag about that feeling . They belittle Audi and Mercedes drivers because their steering has no "feel". I've got 235 19" on the front. I agree with you that it doesnt have to be that firm, but I got used to it . I'm sure you will too.

You made a big jump...when I went from 16's to 17's on my Subaru it felt like a big difference, I can only imagine a 2" jump.

BTW I have the 18" sport package wheels and I think they feel great

Personal preference really and what you're used too. I love the 'heavy' feel even though there are times when it's nice to have the light feel - pulling out of a tight parking spot, etc. I sometimes find myself having difficulty driving my wife's car if I haven't driven it for a while. The steering wheel is very light and I'll find myself drifting all over the place without noticing until I get used to the feel again. Over-all, I prefer the BMW heavy feel to the more luxurious, lighter feel.

Update:

Steering is getting lighter and lighter. I am not sure what is causing this. So at the beginning, when this OP was made, it was incredibly heavy. Now it's lighter than most cars.... Tires wearing out can cause this?

My 07' 335i was a non-sport and yes, for some reason the steering wheel is extremely heavy feeling. I now drive a 2010 335i M-sport and the steering feels absolutely perfect. So pretty much you're going to have to just deal with the heavy steering or sell your car and get a 335 sport.

I am not sure if you saw the last post above yours. It was way heavier than it should have been first. Now it's lighter than it should be after few thousand miles. Not sure what's going on...

Possibility. But I feel it's lighter than it should be to a point where you lose confidence in steering. Though my alignment is spot on, I do have this issue going on here:

Revisiting this thread after a long time.

I am the op and my steering kept getting heavier after I posted this thread. Changed my power steering and woaahhh.... steering is how it should be!

It's way lighter and smoother now. So if you have over 50K miles, I really recommend this. There are DIY's here and I did the "Turkey Baster" method.
