Sure. "Ricing" is when modding is done in a way you don't like.

How much HP do chrome valve covers add on an old 1930's coupe?

Exactly.

So if someone with a "nice" car like a Honda Accord looking like a "POS" came on here shitting on everything that had a LTBMW sticker on it (or the majority of automobiles on this site, rather) because it looked like a piece of shit, he would have a valid reason to do so, correct?

No one has to subscribe to my views or your views or anyone elses's views. People are free to rice and people are free to denounce ricing. It's taht simple. If people don't like other people laughing at ricing then maybe they should not rice?
I understand it. Its just the part about generalizing "rice" that you seem not to get. If you haven't noticed, I'm playing Devil's advocate here because you are clearly not trying to see things from another perspective. Typical on a BMW forum, unfortunately.

I was referring to the mentality of a lot of members on E90post in particular, notwithstanding people anywhere else, as I'm sure that is also the case elsewhere. And "ricers" don't NEED to accept anything as they feel that what they have done with their automobiles is suitable for their tastes. But you win.

Who cares? Its not your car and you don't have to drive it. I could understand if you were a design engineer for BMW but ur not. Why are you trying to preserve an image that you didn't help to create?

If you don't like it buy another car that is so expensive that no one else will have

Anyone who doesn't follow the mainstream is likely to be criticized. It's part of the game like it or not. You can accept reality or not, your choice. Some people accept reality and some try to convert others to their POV. It doesn't matter how someone feels about the mods to their auto, people who don't share their perspective are free to criticize and they will. There is nothing wrong with that IMO. It's called freedom of speech and a lot of good men and women have died to protect that right.
You keep coming back to FOS and reality and the like. No one is denying that those things exist, buddy. No one is denying criticism. As I said before, your point of views are absolutely subjective no matter how hard you try to make it seem like "criticism" is a "part of the game".

Actually all ricer cars look like crap and that's the reason why the majority of people hate the looks. It doesn't matter what the brand is, if you rice it, it looks like a POS. Those who don't know the diff between crap, style or performance should educate themselves. Why turn a perfectly good car into a POS because you have no clue?

Read that, and tell me you are not biased.

And your reality is obviously different from that of my own.

He doesn't see it that way. He's like a movie critic. Absolutely no contribution to the final product but has a shitload to say about it.

Over the years the crowd has become younger, less educated and seems increasingly obsessed with 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. I saw at least a dozen cars with crap hanging under their rear bumper including fake testicles and little skeletons. The vintage 2002s and 3.0 CSi cars were dwarfed by lime green, 5,000 watt stereo blasting, gang-banger, pieces of shi*.

What people do what their cars is their business. If they bought, they have a right to do whatever they want.

Ok this kills me! People take being a purist way to far...if you are content going at the stock power levels and dont want to improve your power then thats fine but dont hate on the people who are enthusiasts and do care about adding power and making them better. I agree some people do make the older BMWS pretty bad esp the e36 bodystyle now because it is so cheap. But your talking about a BMW like it is a Ferrari or something. I own a high end used car dealership and for instance on Saturday we sold a e90 bmw and a loaded honda accord that were the same price. I love BMWs and have had 4 and enjoy taking them past their stock specs but hate when people act like you are ruining the car when your just making it better. To each his own but just because people enjoy things like audio and better performance that might not be your taste doesnt mean the company is becoming "ricey" that just makes you look ignorant by saying so.

THAT is reality. That's the whole point. So RICE AWAY but expect that people who don't like RICE are going to ridicule your RICING because they can and they will.

Do you understand?

ALRICE already!

Well, I agree with that, but the OP went beyond criticizing.... He's taking it so personally that people would modify their cars in a way that he thinks is awful. I can't stand rice either, but if you're at the point where you're having seizures over what other people do to their cars, simply because they share the same "marque" as yours, then you've got issues.

BMW's are BMW's. We're not talking about someone who took your personal car and did something to it, and we're not talking about someone who took your work and did something to it.... Owning a BMW isn't anything to write home about anyway. IMO, people who think they need to defend the brand because of its integrity, and because "people won't respect me as much for driving my Bimmer", then you've got more issues than the ricers themselves.
